FIFA 11 for iPad review
FIFA 11 for iPad is the most comprehensive football title to appear on the Apple tablet.
FIFA 11 is the first FIFA football game to appear on iPad, delivering the most complete footy title on the platform. Stephen Ebert put on his studs for a virtual kickabout.
The good
All the major official club licenses from England, Spain, Germany and Italy and the major international teams means footy fans will be spoilt for choice by who to play as. League modes, Cups and a practice mode gives handheld footy fans have plenty to do.
Having already landed on the iPhone, FIFA 11 for iPad is in another league. The large screen size makes a major difference, as players have much more room to pick out passes like a pro. A little more finger space to work the controls are another welcome addition.
A large 360-degree D-pad makes navigating players a cinch. Pass, Shoot, Tackle and Slide buttons on the right make the controls easy to use even for beginners. Extra touchscreen additions for advanced players such as swiping the screen to curve your shots, make off the ball players make runs and perform skills add lots more depth to the gameplay.
The bad
Playing a few matches in one sitting is sure to make most fingers slightly sore. Be easy on that virtual D-pad.
No Champions League. You won’t find Europe’s premier club competition here.
The bottom line
FIFA 11 for iPad, just like its console counterpart is one of the most, if not the most comprehensive football title around. The large screen of the iPad makes FIFA 11 one of the best handheld football titles ever. Certainly the best touchscreen one.
