The basics

The Geminoid HI-1 is a robot that has been designed in the likeness of its creator, Hiroshi Ishiguro. It can perform lifelike movements such as breathing, blinking and fidgeting and can be remotely controlled via a motion capture system that tracks Ishiguro's mouth movements. This also allows the robot to "speak" his voice. The realism comes from silicone moulds of Ishiguro's body.
