I am wearing these bad boys now to bed them in for the Brecon beacons in 2 weeks. I chose these as they are bsically the same as my Salomon trail running shoes but with heal support. They are like wearing slippers so can recommend them to all but haven't a clue where you will get them for £130.00. Best I found on the net was www.beyondextreme.co.uk where they are £139.00, however they didn't have mine in stock so I had to get them from Spartoo for £159.00

C'mon guys-where did you find the "Cosmics" @ £130? Or have you confused them with the price of the "Quests"?
Report as inappropriateAusten20 October 2009
Well I have made calls to all my local shops who have said that the Cosmic is not being generally imported into the UK but the lower spec Quest is. The ony place in the UK online that I have found is http://www.outdoorkit.co.uk/ but they want £143.99p that includes 10% discount for there sale. Of course it also includes the problem of not being able to try before you buy. Alos if it does not fit then there is there returns policy "To return a non-faulty product, it must be in its original condition with the original labels attached. Once a product has been worn or used we will be unable to refund or exchange unless the item is found by the manufacturer to have a fault" So it seams that the Cosmic is out of this world and just as hard to find.

OutdoorKit's shop will be stocking them in a couple of weeks - they have them continually coming in. The cost is £143.99 and delivery is by Parcelforce - £3.95. After double-checking with Salomon, OutdoorKit are actually selling the Cosmic 4D GTX at 10% off the recommended retail price (£160). Ordering anything from Salomon can take around 7 days because they have to be ordered from France. You can check them out here; http://www.outdoorkit.co.uk/product.php?product_id=5307

Just got a pair of these boots from a website www.climateski.com. Arrived yesterday and haven't had them off my feet since (well almost!) They are the black colour rather than red, but i do prefer them. Seem to fit just right, very light to wear, yet plenty of support. Have had bother breaking other boots in, but these do feel like a pair of trainers straight off. A much needed paired for my line of work... as travel photographer these has stood the test in the Sahara Desert just off Timbuktu (North Africa), Tibet, Annapurna range in Nepal and in 2010 they are in for a right good bashing for days on end!.... in some extreme environments in 2010 in South Asia and Africa. They are a far cry from the Quest in terms of comfort! my old pair of Quest were like clogs! to be honest a waste of time! Anyway the main question to ask yourself here is: are your feet right for these boots?! I went half size up with the Cosmic and they have done me wonders! Ok here go the real reason you can not find the boot any were and try them, well they cost £160 is the real RRP for a real shop. if you can try them and buy them in the web for £130 well no need to stock them, also is base on a very light weight trail running shoe, so if you fantasy walking the south downs in £160 light weight boots up to you. Now if you want somethink for walking in flat like in the Video well get the Exit GTX for £85 and save some money. also they are Light Weight Boots.

tried a pair on at penrose in truro... Really, really impressed by their instant comfort and wearability. Compared them tp brashers which i found plank like and heavy. However, the store service didn.t match the quality of the boots so bought online for 144.00. Get the best of both worlds: a cheaper price and the opportunity to try them on. Whilst i want to support local businesses, i don't have loyalty for their sloppy service. Searched high and low for this 130.00 price tag but never found it across all sizes, only on very small boots..

Bought these boots six months ago and have walked half a season in them. They are comfortable and supportive but after less than one season they developed a large hole where the toe flexes and the goretex fabric meets the boot and the other boots heel started to peel away from the boot. You cannot contact Salomon direct because they have no contact point on their website and the Ellis Brigham store said the damage was probably caused by walking on stony ground and had to be assessed by Salomon and that takes 3 weeks. So there you have it, Walking boots that officially are not fit for walking in !!!!!

Out the box comfort and somehow give you a good walking gait.Great in freezing or wet weather keep the feet warm and dry but not too hot in moderate weather , great 3 season boot as they say. However the mud grip is average and i would describe their Ice and snow capabilities as poor to dangerous. It is beyond me that so much tech spec could go into the boot yet leave the ice and snow traction so useless. Its like fitting slicks to a Merc 4 X 4.Oh and had to send the first pair back after about 4 months because the bit where your toe bends as you walk started disintergrating i was particularly un impressed cos i was only wearing them for two 5 hour walks at weekends in a public park with my dogs.Guess i had high hopes that you expect from high price.Give them 7 out of 10 but i think that goes down to a 5/10 if you take the price into account. To summarise they are great boot so long as there's no ice snow or mud,Infact i think i will call them my british rail boots. Just managed to get a pair of theses for £136 delivered from Outdoors Online. I also got the newer 2010 model which come in a choice of colours so I didn't have to get the red ones which I was put off by to be honest. Ordered them on the 23rd Dec they were delivered pre 10am on the 24th! I was most impressed with the boot, it is very light in weight yet feels solid in construction. I've only worn them around the house to try them out and they are so comfortable I kept them on all day until my feet were getting too hot and that was with a thin pair of normal socks on! I'm very pleased with the boot and thanks to the GS for their review with the excellent Mr Blessed. I decided to get these over other cheaper brands out there based on the review and score they got from the show and I am glad I did. With all the snow of late and probably more to come over the next couple of months I wanted something that would keep my feet warm, dry and give me good grip and stability in adverse conditions. I'm looking forward to getting out there and giving them a good try out.

I got a pair of these from nevissport for £110 (the 2010 model) They are fantastic they took hardly any breaking in and I love the orthalite insole. I have just returned from the lake district where I was walking through 3 foot drifts and fording swollen rivers and not only did they keep my feet bone dry but they still kept my feet warm and the breathability was amazing. The grip wasn't anything to shout about but the flexibility and durability made up for it. These boots only sercumed to the wet when I fell through a snow bridge and was up to my knees in a river below. They are a fantastic boot and althogh marketed as a lightweight boot can easily handle any british weather. Don't be put off by the lack of leather or the look the goretex membrane can handle any water as long as they are cared for.

Hi Ive had a pair of these for about a year. Im a surveyor and really really put my boots to the test. These are great to walk in , very sure footed and a pleasure to walk in all day long. My one problem with these is they are NOT waterproof. I would say water resisitant but NOT waterPROOF. If you need to keep water out for a length of time look elsewhere. If you walk in wet grass for more than 10 mins you WILL get wet feet , (wet from water not sweat) A bit expensive but in dry conditions they are great boots.
