Meindl Vakuum GTX

The basics

The Meindl Vakuum is a super-comfortable 3 season boot. With an all-encompasing memory foam system that moulds to your foot's contours, it offers excellent support and a better fit. The Vibram sole gives good underfoot support and exceptional grip on rough ground. It also has waterproof Goretex lining and weighs 1.54kg.

very disappointing review, if you are going to test a series of boots it would make sense to test like with like. Meindl boots are supposed to be very stiff to enable them to be crampon compatible, crampons just pop off over flexible boots. So to mark down something without testing it in the way it is intended to be used is somewhat pointless. Brian Blessed being an experienced mountain walker should have known better. Incidentally the Scarpa SL M3 boots also tested on another show are equally stiff yet rated highly!!

My second pair of Meindl memory foam boots. As with my previous Burma pro mfs these boots were instantly comfortable. You do have to play around with the lacing to get the most comfortable fit but once found they are superb. No breaking in...did 15 mile mountain walk followed the following week by the yorkshire three peaks. No blisters, no sore spots. My advice....go to a shop where the assistants are trained boot fitters.

This review done on this boot is totally pointless, its like comparing a Ford Fiesta to a Land Rover Discovery 3. Of course this boot is still and ridged, it has a perspex shank though 80% of the boot. You can not compare this Meindl to a Hi Tech V-Iite. If i was the CEO of Meindl i would be fuming
