Samsung Omnia 7
The basics
The Samsung Omnia 7 sets itself apart from the huge array of modern smartphones by avoiding Android as an operating system. Instead, you'll find the brand new Windows Phone 7 OS, and it makes the Samsung Omnia 7 one of the best handsets currently on the market.
The good
Whatever other features are present, it's the Windows Phone 7 operating system that steals the limelight here. It makes the Samsung Omnia 7 a revolutionary phone to use, and we love it.
It's very simple, with overly large, finger-friendly touchscreen buttons, and there's no sign of the fiddly menus, sub-menus and cramped icons from older versions of Windows Mobile.
There's a huge Super AMOLED screen, measuring in at 4 inches, and it's one of the best we've ever seen on a smartphone. It's simply stunning, with colours that are larger than life – making movies and photographs a superb experience.
Quality on the Samsung Omnia 7 is also good, with a robust metal casing and that superb glass screen.
The bad
In an era of stunning smartphones – such as the glass Apple iPhone 4, or the anodised aluminium Nokia N8 – the Samsung Omnia 7 is disappointingly bland. Considering the amazing software on offer, we were hoping for something a little more exciting.
The bottom line
If you're after a smartphone, then few are smarter than the Samsung Omnia 7. The operating system really is a revelation, and it puts most of its rivals to shame. It's just a pity the design of the Samsung Omnia 7 is so dreary, a feature that will sadly put many consumers off.

This is a fantastic phone that I have been using since October 21 when it came out. It integrates Facebook, Xbox live, Zune music pass in a unique way. Highly recommended!

just received mine on Friday, loving it so far! while not an i-phone user, i do have an i-pod touch (3rd gen) and find the new style refreshing. quick system and responsive touch screen, with high level of screen clarity and brightness. well impressed!

Windows phone 7 is a fantastic OS. extremely responsive (but not overly sensitive), doesn't slow down when you've got multiple apps opened, and key info all in 1 place. if you have an iphone / android / symbian, you really need to check out windows phone 7. it just works!

thats the ominia 7 but what about the HTC mozart 8mp cam, windows 7 mobile, fells great in your hand (a bit like a i Phone 3G) yes you don't get the super AMOLED screen on the mozart but if you are willing to trade for a 5mp cam then the trophy or HD7 are just as good, can't wait to see what come next for windows 7 mobile!!!

I got this phone around 3 weeks ago, lots of good features but some annoying problems too, you cannot add a personal ring tone the software wont let you and all the ring tones on the phones memory are rubbish. also there doesn't seem be a quick call answer button so you have to slide the screen then press answer and by the time you have got out of pocket and done that the phone rings out. No torch using flash available, no sat nav, alarm cannot adjust snooze time, all in all i used to have a nokia express music but got this phone because I could open pdf s on emails and was due an upgrade but overall the nokia was better.
