Samsung G800
The basics
The G800 is from Samsung is a sleek silver mobile with a wide screen. It is Tri-band phone and is capable of 3G connection via HSDPA 2100. Its dimensions are 101 x 51.2 x 18.8 mm. It has a160 MB internal memory and can store up to 1000 phonebook entries. It comes in one shade: Titan Grey. It also has a 5 MP camera and is capable of playing MP3 files.
The good
Badger spotting. It’s good, clean fun for all the family but incredibly difficult with most cameraphones – they can’t handle the dark and there’s no way to get closer to all that earthworm-grubbing action. Welcome the G800, whose 3x optical zoom and powerful Xenon flash are ideal for capturing ground-dwelling striped carnivores. You’ll want to upload your photos immediately, so it’s a good job there’s a HSDPA 7.2Mbps connection on board – and even PictBridge for connecting to a portable printer.
The bad
This is pretty much a one trick pony. There’s no Wi-Fi or GPS on board, just a basic media player (although at least with stereo Bluetooth) and HTML-only browser. Plus, there’s Samsung’s usual anti-intuitive menus to mash your brain.
The bottom line
A perfectly serviceable cameraphone that’s worth considering if you need hi-res mobile snaps -but it’s looking on the expensive side these days.

i think the gadget show has this the wrong way round - I own one of these and the camera isn't that great - very temperamental indoors and the flash isnt that good for a xenon. the menu's are very easy to use and the phone feels solid and chunky in a pleasant way. 3G is about right

Well I#ve had this phone for just over a year now. It could have been a great little phone, if it wasn't for the lousey battery that won't hold charge for a whole day! Now it could be that I just have a bad battery, however I have heard the same complaint from other users. Oh and the other problem is the Samsung menu system. It would be nice to switch on the anti shake feature for the camera and leave it on not have to go through the sometimes confusing menu system every time I want to start taking photos...
