Nokia C7
The basics
The Nokia C7 is the latest Symbian ^3 smartphone to ship, following hot on the heels of the Nokia N8. Although it doesn't feature its sibling's 12-Megapixel camera, you'll still get an 8-Megapixel snapper, loads of features and a sexy new design.
The good
The Nokia C7 features a large 3.5-inch AMOLED screen. With multi-touch technology, it's the perfect device for browsing the internet or flicking through your photographs. The display is also made out of glass, and it's surprisingly robust.
The design of the Nokia C7 is also a high point, with the handset avoiding the bulky camera casing found on the Nokia N8. Instead, you'll find a curvy design, with an incredibly thin casing and stainless steel construction.
The Nokia C7 is packed with useful features, such as an 8-Megapixel camera and 8GB of internal storage. You can also add more via microSD card. Connectivity includes 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The bad
Unlike the Nokia N8, the Nokia C7's camera does without Carl Zeiss optics and autofocus. The resulting photographs are still pin-sharp, but depth of field suffers as a result.
The Symbian ^3 operating system will also prove too clunky for some. It still works well – proving responsive and versatile – but it's not as intuitive as rivals and takes some getting used to.
The bottom line
The Nokia C7 is a feature-packed smartphone. It may lack the ease of use of the Apple iPhone, but it counters with a robust and stylish design, and its operating system offers a lot more versatility. It's also set to be a lot cheaper than its rivals.
