The basics

Nokia 8800 Arte is a mobile phone by Nokia. It is a relatively small phone with dimensions of 109 mm x 45.6 mm x 14.6 mm, 65 cc, and weighs about 150 grams. The phone is equipped with a 240 x320 pixels screen with scratch-resistant glass. It boasts of a 3.15 megapixel camera with autofocus and video.

The good

Ditch the manbag, fashion fans: Nokia's new style mobile is the thing to be seen with this season. From the illuminated keypad to the precision glass and metal sliding body, the Arte oozes quality. There's no touchscreen here, just the good old Nokia interface, which is a breeze to use. There are plenty of other features to be had, though. While we're not talking full smartphone bells and whistles, there's 3G, a 3.2-megapixel camera that captures high-detailed snaps and crisp VGA video, a music player and 1GB of built-in memory.

The bad

While that 1GB is fairly generous, the lack of a card slot means it's all you've got in the way of storage. That's a bad thing on a phone with a camera and music player, but really it's the only stain on the 8800 Arte's flashy clothes.

The bottom line

A symphony of understated elegance and neat touches, from the illuminated keypad to the solid sliding action, the Arte oozes quality.
