HTC Sensation
The basics
Manufactures – and HTC in particular – have released so many Android smartphones over the past two years that picking the right one can be a nightmare. The HTC Sensation is the latest addition, offering a 4.3-inch screen, 1.2GHz processor and a host of decent features.
The good
The 4.3-inch screen on the HTC Sensation is the smartphone's real party piece. With a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, it's incredibly sharp, with text and images looking very crisp. Websites also look great, with enough space onscreen to fit lots of text on.
With a 1.2GHz processor, the HTC Sensation was never likely to be lacking in power, and so it proves. The processor is a dual-core chip, so you'll also be able to carry out a couple of tasks without noticing a big dip in performance.
The Android operating system is as good as ever, with the latest version of HTC's Sense user interface overlaid on top. It's easy to use, fast and looks modern and simple.
Build quality is also decent, with a mixture of premium materials on offer. Soft touch plastics add a tactile feel, while splashes of aluminium add a high quality finish.
The bad
Although the screen on the HTC sensation is impressive from a sharpness point of view, it can't match the very best from Samsung when it comes to colour reproduction. A phone with a 4.3-inch screen won't suit everybody, either, and it will prove too large for lots of users. The big screen also affects the HTC Sensation's battery life, and we frequently found ourselves recharging it in under a day.
The bottom line
Well made, packed with features such as an 8-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, dual-core processing and more, there's a lot to like about the HTC Sensation. The huge screen sadly has an impact on battery life, which is our biggest issue with this handset. If battery life doesn't matter to you, however, it could well be worth a look.

Wheres the Galaxy S II on your site? it was released a month before the sensation and still the Gadget Show has nothing on this phone.

How did this only get 3 stars? 4 stars at least. The Gadget Show is a joke.

I really do believe the sensation deserves 4 g's as the screen size is down to personal preference and the issue with the battery life is really niether here or there as I have seen the i phone 4 run out of battery life on many a gadget show challenge so come gadget show up the g's please

I've got the sensation, my wife has the Galaxy Sll. Not much difference between the two. Battery life is not an issue at the moment although if you leave bluetooth, wifi and gps running it does drain it a bit, but the only time I might do that is when I'm in the car and then it's plugged in. I think the Galaxy colours are a bit extreme and unreal, certainly more vivid than the Sensation.

For those who aren't into Apple, but want the best, then the Sensation is a winner, especially after " rooting" it, The Sammy feels cheep in the hand, Though the screen is wonderful, it depends on your likes, I think the blacks are just too black, the The Sensation has a wonderful screen. I can even see it clearly in sun light. Just needs a few tweaks to get it just so, I suppose that's true of all phones. The sound system needs aftermarket ear phones and media player, but when found, is excellent.

im sorry but 3g's is a joke. seriously. this phone is blisteringly fast and extreamly well made. i was in a toss up between this and the s2 and this one just because of how cheap the s2 felt in the hand and also, the htc sense interface swings things. i really think you should up the mark for one of the best phones on the market. i also think its a joke that you can say its middle of the road then post massive adverts for it on your site

I've had mine for a couple of months now and it certainly ticks all my boxes.Build quality is far superior to sg2 and the phone works like a dream. The only real niggle for me was the battery life which i was used to from owning the nokia n900,but for the small price of £7:99 from amazon and the problem was well and truly sorted..

Sensation - could not have had a more appropriate name. I'm typeing this on an iPad only because my wife has nicked my htc. Easily a 5g phone. In my opinion the best gadget ever made. Only down side for me is that you have to open it to change the sd card! Better than not being able to change it mind you, apple.

Am very surprised at the 3G rating, easily a 4, possibly a 5. I have had my Sensation for 4 months and i love it! Having compared it with a friends iPhone, it has to be said, not impressed with the iPhone. No Bluetooth, can't change battery or SD card, and the sensations screen is far superior. There's not much iPhone can do that this phone can't. Fast, responsive and much more attractive!!

Had this about 4months now, originally a toss up with a S2 but the build of it put me off, a friend is on his 3rd in 4 months. Absolutely love this, so flexible compared to an iphone (sorry!) as some of the family have them, with reception issues, crashing during calls to name but a few.

I disagree with this I have this phone I have not had a single time when I had to re charge it. The screen colour reproduction is done to pesonal apinment so you would not include that sort of thing on any of your reviews

well, I admit it was a great alternative to the iphone, lots of flexibiltiy, great screen, great bluetooth, great calendar and widgets. BUT, and its a big BUT... after 2 months Mine refused to charge. I got a replacement. then the replacement did the same thing, went for for repair at o2. Now after only one month it wont turn on and get a blue screen of death if it does come on, then turns off imediatly!! now I want a RELIABLE flexible smartphone!
