Garmin Forerunner 405
The basics
Garmin Forerunner 405 is a GPS-enabled sports watch that tracks down your training activities. Great for tempo and long runs, speed drills. Its training features can monitor distance, time, pace, calories including your heart rate if it is matched with a heart monitor. It can send data through wireless technology, from watch to computer, without effort.

Excellent, motivating tool for tracking runs. Software straight forward and best feature is Garmin Connect. On line web tool to view google map of run with Avg HR / speed / distance and goal setting capabilities make this a winner.

These watch is very cool watch. I prefer more in garmin watches because these are trusted by serious athletes. Also it has a lot of helpful features to offer. I also love it's HRM feature and it's user friendly interface.

I've used various GPS systems to aid my trail run training and have to say the Garmin Forerunner 405 is the best for me. If you like running through forrests, you'll be pleased with how well the GPS maintains your position whilst doing this. I can manage my training at ease, coupled with a running program, I get the whole picture of when I'm doing well or not. The heart rate monitor is very accurate and has an own code feature so your HR reading is not affected by your running partner's monitor - should you have one. Using the Garmin ANT Agent software enables you to log and review your session by sending the data from your 405 to the your desktop via the USB ANT Stick. If you're an Apple user then fear not, Garmin software is avaialble from the Garmin website. Being a fan of great design and colour, I did feel the Garmin Training Center desktop software lacked the aesthetic appeal of the Nike+ interface, but with such a great product who cares. The only thing the watch won't do, is make you run faster.
