I have Windows 7 Ultimate on a HP ProBook 4710s, I am very happy with it, the only windows operating system I have note used is Windows me, and I can easily say that 7 is by far the best Windows ever and is much better than Vista ever was!

I have found a small bug in Windows 7, if you have several open icons on the lower bar and you download two updates say from Microsoft (which you need to do as on the day of release there were 9 critial updates already) and maybe a PDF or MS mail download as well as Windowns 7 does not come with mail or a pdf reader! anyway the download seems to stop and locks nothing moves..just before the fingers move to control alt del buttons...... if you then click on the icons they revist the real world and update the actual download available. But it is stable now and looks quite good but not sure its really worth more than a free update of XP....

Why wouldnt you just keep XP Pro ? - download "autoruns" from the MS Site and delete the un-neccessary rubbish out of your startup/bootup. Then Windows XP loads up in 10-12 seconds and you dont need the "quicker" Windows 7. Then you dont need to jump on the band wagon of Windows 7. Other than it being new, what does it offer really?

I didn't like vista when it came out and was looking forward to see what windows 7 was like. I had a chance to test it before it was open to the public. Sadly it gets a thumbs down. I didn't test the new office 14 as I hated office 2007. I have reloaded my pc with xp pro and taken out a few unwanted items. It's a shame they carn't just tweek xp pro

Just built a new computer, and Windows 7 was the final touch to it. Must say, it takes about 35 seconds to start up, whereas XP only takes 17. Still like it and am happy with it. I went all out and got Ultimate for BitLocker and XP Mode. XP Mode is great and a saviour for us programmers; now I don't need to swap OSs just run Virtual PC and run XP Mode (requires a CPU with Intel VT or AMD-V).

As an IT professional I am not one for changing to the latest OS. But after a hardware failure I had the opportunity to install a full release of W7 ultimate and WOW, Microsoft have finally got it right. Better than the poor offering that was Vista and an OS that seems to have been created and developed correctly for a change. Slick, low power consumption (great for mobile machines) intuitive GUI and all round nice to use. Installation is easier than ever, drivers are not an issue unless you have some really obscure hardware. I have gone from having to upgrade 1 machine to willingly upgrading all 5 of mine!!!!!!! I would definitely recommend this OS and the additional bonus is full integration when adding Office 2007 to it.

i have had every version of windows going and with regards to the depth of W7's abilities and fancy bits i think it is relatively unrivalled however i like to do a lot of gaming on my PC and i find with windows vista and w7 although they use DX10 and 11 this was not needed for most of the games i play and just ended up slowing my PC to a Halt at times with low FPS and slow map loading etc... for gaming i would use XP all the way but as for features like DX10+ and media centre i would definatley upgrade to Windows 7 premium or ultimate of course :D

Windows 7 Ultimate is a class act, much better than Vista and on a par with XP Pro. Load time is quick, similar to XP, but as support for XP is all but gone then get 7, easy to use, fast with no clutter and nice features like the split screen function.

i upgraded to 7 straight from xp (i never did get vista as i used it on a friends pc and hated it) but seven is fantastic, it was a little confusing at first as of corse it is set out totaly diferant to xp, but it is a lot simpler to use and some of the features are very usefull. i do not use the side by side snap feture as i have two screens and it just, well dosnt work lol.
