Pretec i-Disk Bullet Proof
The basics
Let's face it: being able to boast that your USB stick is bulletproof is worth some serious cool points. And thanks to its rounded double layer of metal protection, that's just what the i-Disk is.
You wouldn't think so just by looking at it, but this little number is built to withstand all kinds of extreme physical environments, from fire to water, and of course shooting ranges.
The good
Well, as we've already mentioned, it's bulletproof. But you don't need to risk gunfire to appreciate the merits of the tiny i-Disk – it really is as tough as they come. Data transfers are speedy too, and you also get mobile lock software for locking down a PC or laptop, as well as Security Zip for wrapping up your precious data in password-protected armour.
The bad
It may appeal to some, but the i-Disk's design is most generously described as odd. Quite what the “totem pattern” running around the metal housing is supposed to represent is beyond us, though at least it does help the i-Disk stand out from the masses.
And while its compact size is in most ways a good thing, it does mean that storage capacities top out at this 8GB version – not a lot by today's standards.
The bottom line
Quirky and original are generally positive traits in a world of technology dominated by step-and-repeat clones, but somehow when it comes to rugged USB sticks it doesn't quite work.
But fortunately, when the going gets tough it isn't looks that make the difference, and the dinky i-Disk punches well above its weight in the ruggedness stakes.

My one arrived today it's brilliant. We've shot it strait on 6 times and hardly a scratch. then we through it roughly 25 meters high in a feild with hard ground and the force it comes down at, WOW! Then my aim went of and it hit concrete. It only scratched it a tinny bit it's amazing. We are going to make our own one and hopefully it'll be better. we'll test lots of metals and see whats best. We hope to get a cheap 1gb one to give it a better test than they have on the gadget show. we'll put it in the washing machine, spray it with deodrant and light it on fire or blow torch it, shoot it with a better gun and throw it from really high heights. We were a bit disapointed that they didn't shoot them because that's the main feature of the Pretec. Hope this helps! =)

I was interested when i saw this memmory stick because i wanted a reliable strong one that i can keep my coursework on and the first day i got it it broke because i will not format the memmory stickm i checked around some websites and other people had the same problem , i got the 8GB one and i dont know if this applies to the other one's but in my opinion i wouldnt get the memmory stick if you dont want the probability that it might break.

This memory stick is AWESOME! Mine arrived today and have started using on my laptop. As a student my other USB's have had a bit of a hard time being bashed about and was looking for something stronger. An added bonus is that the USB comes with its own password protection (if you want to install the software) which is an added value for people with sensitive documents. Highly recommend this device to everyone who has a pretty manic life style and needs something strong and portable. Price was very good too at £17.95!!

I've been looking at them and they all say that they're optimised for Windows. Do they work well with Macs specifically MacBook early 2008 generation.

I've had the 8 Gig I-Disk for about a year. For no reason at all, suddenly got VERY hot and took out the USB on my motherboard. Need to work out how to get it replaced as I can't find a contact on the website...
