Toshiba NB200-11H

The basics

Toshiba has seriously raised the bar with the NB200-11H netbook, delivering a 10.1-inch screen and near full-size keyboard. Sure, when it comes to spec, it follows all the established netbook rules (Windows XP OS, 1.66GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 160GB hard drive) but the satin and silver chassis is as eye-poppingly good looking as any Pussycat Dolls video.

The good

Toshiba has clearly got a game plan with the NB200 and it’s to deliver the best-looking, best-built netbook out there. What’s more, we reckon they may have just about done it! Images on the standard size screen look amazingly crisp and sharp. The near full-size keyboard is an absolute dream to use and never once do you feel like you’ve settled for second best – something we can't say about every netbook out there.

The bad

There are just two things wrong with the Toshiba NB200-11H as far as we can see. The first is that the 6-cell battery pack protrudes from the back of the chassis, ruining the other Size Zero styling – so less easy to pull from your briefcase. The second is the price, which at £380 is hefty even for a lightweight netbook as this.

The bottom line

The Toshiba NB200-11H takes everything we thought we knew about netbooks and slaps the same attention to detail we’d expect from a laptop. The result is top-notch performance from a premium design that looks and feels fantastic. We think Toshiba has set a new benchmark to netbook design that seriously raises the games.
