Asus Lamborghini VX5
The basics
A machine for motor maniacs, the 16-inch Asus Lamborghini VX5 collab computer packs some seriously powerful specs under the bonnet. There's an Intel quad core processor, 4GB of RAM and NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M graphics for gaming, as well as a beastly 1 terabyte hard drive to stash all your media. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are a given, a Blu-ray drive's tucked in the boot for future proofing, and it's all finished up with Italian car class styling.
The good
The horsepower inside the Asus Lamborghini VX5 is great for gaming: even the latest pixel chomping titles run at a canter. The island keyboard is sturdy and fits in with the overall continental car feel, and built in Blu-ray is present, so you can hook the laptop up to a TV with HDMI to watch back hi-def movies. For it's size, it's also light, so you won't need a car jack to lift it into a bag for your travels.
The bad
Open up the Asus Lamborghini VX5 and the leather wrists rests and polished metal casing make you feel like you're sitting on the inside of a plush speedster, but the outside tells a different story. The VX5 is supposedly based on Lambo's Reventón, but all we see when we look at the glossy white plastic lid is Eee PC. Considering this costs six times the price of your average Asus netbook, that's not a good thing. Asus has also shrunk the shift key again as it seems to do purely for sport, so if you're a touch typist steer clear.
The bottom line
For its two grand showroom price, the Asus Lamborghini VX5 comes bundled with an added sense of unease. Yes, you could have got just as much power for much less, and yes, you now probably own something that Jeremy Clarkson likes (let's face it, the man made jeans go out of fashion). But if you're a die hard petrolhead with the moolah for a real Diablo in the driveway, don't let us stop you.
