Asus Eee PC T91
The basics
The Asus Eee PC T91's internals are nothing to write home about: an Atom 1.3GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and a 32GB solid state drive. But, it's not just a netbook, oh no: twist the screen around 180 degrees, fold it down and you've got yourself a touchscreen tablet too.
The good
The Eee PC T91's touchscreen is more tempting to prod than a wall with a wet paint sign: we can easily see it becoming as standard in netbooks as USB ports. The rotating screen meanwhile will survive any amount of hula twisting and it's great to use in tablet mode for doodling. And don't be put off by the specs: it performs as well as any other lil' laptop in day-to-day use.
The bad
We've been getting used to battery lives on Eee PCs as long as a shopping list for an MP's second home, but the Eee PC T91 takes us back a bit in a bad way at just over three hours of heavy usage per charge. The deal breaker though is size: at nine inches, it's too small to use comfortably for most, especially when the screen doesn't respond to your digits, or even the pop out stylus, at the edges. Try before you buy.
The bottom line
We love where the Eee PC T91 is going, we really do. But it's not there just yet: the battery life is soooo 2008, and clawhanditis sets in on the cramped keyboard. Slap that twisty touchscreen on a ten-inch model though and we'll hand over the cash today, even for £449.

Two things- 1st a small complaint- I dont think the Five Fwd Gadget show search function is very good. You might appreciate why when you hear my question below- I'm desperate for help not sure where to turn. I'm a novice at choosing tech can you help? Which is the best tablet on the market to: offer a decent broadband speed (internet searching- think this has something to do with SSD/3g function), not weigh too much, offer mobile broadband, allow for watching ppt presentations/video, using skype, fast handwriting recognition and using windows 7 business (I have this). Be good if it also allowed for keyboard functionality had a usb, speaker, camera (though not vital) and is easy to hold and use. I need to be able to write on the screen easily and quickly in meetings and be able to sommunicate well and search the internet fast through it. Thanks, Lindsey
