IceCrypt T2400 1TB PVR
The basics
The IceCrypt T2400 is a twin-tuner high-definition PVR receiver, letting you watch the latest Freeview and Freesat TV content. You can also record your favourite programmes, with up to 1TB available for £286. It's expensive, then, but read on to find out if it lives up to the price tag.
The good
The IceCrypt T2400 is one of the more expensive PVR receivers on the market, costing a lot more than devices like the Humax 500GB PVR. However, as well as offering 500GB or 1TB versions, you can also buy the IceCrypt with 2TB of storage space – offering hundreds of hours of high-definition recordings.
It offers plenty of channels to watch – we managed to get 82 straight out of the box, keeping us entertained and letting us access our favourite high-definition BBC TV programmes.
The IceCrypt T2400 also supports MPEG4 and MPEG2 video formats, so you'll be able to watch your own content via external USB memory cards and hard drives.
The bad
Unfortunately, the IceCrypt T2400 is slow. We found the Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) very unintuitive and difficult to use, and the remote control was equally frustrating. If you're in a rush to turn on and record, this is not the device for you.
The bottom line
The IceCrypt T2400 500GB PVR has lots of features, but it falls down when it comes to usability. With a better remote control and an instruction manual, to let you get the best out of the EPG, it would be worth a look. Without, we recommend going for something like the Humax 500GB PVR.
