Adapt 305 Pico Projector
The basics
The Adapt 305 is a pocket-sized pico projector that can produce a 100-inch image despite measuring only 110 x 60 x 25mm and weighing a featherlight 190g (or 300g including battery). It can project from a laptop or micro SD card, or from most video sources via a composite video cable.
The good
Most pocket projectors need to be rigged up to a source like a laptop or DVD player, but the Adapt 305 can also act as its own source, thanks to 4GB of built-in memory (which can be expanded further via the micro SD card slot).
This storage means you can stuff it with digital photos and videos – it’s compatible with a wide range of formats – and ogle them directly, with no need for a laptop. You can also hook up an iPhone or iPod touch using an optional adapter cable.
The picture quality is extremely bright and clear by pico projector standards, and thanks to a couple of (admittedly quiet) built-in stereo speakers you can have them accompanied by sound without having to worry about external speakers.
The bad
Like all pocket projectors, the picture quality is a definite step down from a regular sized light-thrower, so if you’re expecting an image akin to your local cinema you’re going to be severely disappointed – the Adapt 305 isn’t even HD ready. Also, the battery pack adds 15mm to the width (while giving you one to two hours of on the go use).
The bottom line
The Adapt 305 is a step ahead of most pocket projectors, offering relatively advanced features and performance in a tiny package.
