Samsung UE46C8000 3D TV
The basics
The snappily titled Samsung UE46C8000 3D TV does exactly what it says on the tin, offering 46 inches of 3D viewing goodness. It's also an incredibly slim TV, promising to fit on the smallest of mantle pieces.
The good
Put simply, the Samsung UE46C8000 3D TV is drop dead gorgeous. It's super slim – at just 24mm – and looks incredibly expensive. The bezel around the screen is also surprisingly thin, making the display look bigger than it actually is.
It's the 3D technology that really sells the Samsung UE46C8000 3D TV, however. You'll need a pair of active 3D glasses – and you should be able to get at least one free pair from your reseller – but once you turn on the 3D tech, you'll never want to go back. Images look simply stunning, with a 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution – and movies look larger than life.
Despite the super slim profile, there are loads of ports on the Samsung UE46C8000 3D TV. You'll find 4 HDMI ports, along with 2 Scart ports, 2 USB, DVI and a host of others – supporting both old and new peripherals.
The bad
Samsung doesn't provide two active 3D glasses as standard with the Samsung UE46C8000 3D TV, despite the £1500+ asking price.
The bottom line
If you're in the market for a new TV, the Samsung UE46C8000 3D TV simply has to be on your list. It's gorgeous, feature packed and offers a stunning picture, either in 2D or 3D.

we've got the 55" 3D LED one and i must say its brilliant, i reckon if sky introduce more 3d channels by summer next year then 3d tvs will most surely be as succesfull as hd tvs.

This samsung is truely beautiful, i've got mine wall mounted and even my wife thinks it looks great. Picture quality is stunning, only problem so far is once wall mounted very difficult to get at all those hdmi slots etc... i got mine in a package from john lewis with samsung 3d blueray player and two pairs of glasses, from what i can see of prices at the moment i did well.

Had this led lcd tv for 2 months now and in terms of styling it's the best out there until the new D8000 series comes out later this year. It's a good 2D and HD tv. Have no real backlight issues and for 3D it's more vibrant than plasma 3D tvs and with crosstalk issues it depends on the content which should improve in time. The future will be OLED tvs....

Saw this at gadget show live, beautiful styling certainly the best in show, but I find the 3D unwatchable; I think it must be me but the active glasses seem to flicker . I have found the same on most active glasses however the LG tv's use the same technology as the cinema with passive glasses so to me even though the styling is much better on the Samsung I would go for the LG every time.

Just got the Samsung AE 55d8000. Amazing. Two pairs of glasses included. Fantastic picture. Worth it for the 2D alone. However cannot understand why The Gadget Show is not in HD!!! It would look amazing on this tv if broadcast in HD.

I purchased the Samsung UE40D8000 just before Christmas 2011. It came with two sets of 3D glasses, a £100 cash back and £50 BlinkBox token. Richer Sounds also gave me a free 5 year warranty as a price match with John Lewis. The TV is the best we have ever bought. The picture quality is just outstanding in both 2 and 3D. The controls on the remote are well layed out and I would say intuative. The smart TV side of the set offers a good set of Apps which Samsung update with a reasonable frequency. I have tested the set with Isedora, Serviio and TVMoBili DLNA software on my IMac (also works with a Windows PC). This allows me to stream Video, Music and Photographs directly from my Mac. Very cool! I will be interested to see how Samsung top this.
