Samsung UE46B7000WW

G-Rating

Rating of 4

The basics

The Samsung UE46B7000 is a 46-inch 1080p LCD television that uses frame-mounted LED lighting instead of regular fluorescent tubes. This allows it to be much thinner than most flat screen TVs. Other features include 100Hz processing, four HDMI inputs, DLNA for media streaming, and web widgets.

The good

This is one of the skinniest and best looking tellies we’ve ever laid eyes on: a crystalline shard of a screen that can be mounted almost flat against a wall. But that doesn’t mean it lacks anything in features or performance: picture quality is generally superb, with blacks deeper than the hole in our hearts, bright colours and crisp, fine detail, while motion is smooth thanks to the 100Hz processing. Web-connected widgets and fuss-free DLNA media streaming make useful bonus features.

The bad

Some light bleed means the picture isn’t absolutely perfect when viewed in total darkness, but that’s a minor issue that most people will never encounter. More serious is the audio performance from the built-in speaker, which is tinny and more distorted than Mickey Rourke's face.

The bottom line

Poor sonic performance aside, this is a truly impressive TV that manages to blend a stylish, skinny body with classy performance and a stellar range of features. The price tag isn’t bad too.

I have Series 6 Samsung LED and the gaming is brilliant (xbox 360 with HDMI cable), i was blown away by the colours, shading and crispness of the graphics. Best i've seen so would imagine series 7 and 8 are even better but can't see how they could be!!

I also have a 6 series and am fortunate to have a 360, Wii and PS3. I have to say that gaming on all three is pretty awesome. You do need to have surround sound for optimum effect as the built in speakers aren't very good.
