Samsung PS50B550
The basics
The Samsung PS50B550 is a 50-inch Full HD plasma panel with 18-bit (262,000 colour) processing, cinema mode and anti-burn systems. Samsung pumps out pseudo-surround SRS audio from two 10W speakers and offers four HDMI ports.
The good
In an ever-changing world in which America is cuddly again and England wins at cricket, why should we be surprised that plasma TVs are changing too? This ever-so-modern marvel spurns burn-in and delivers more optical wattage than Jessica Alba’s smile. Luckily, you still get the ultra-fluid action and endlessly deep blacks of plasma, making this 50-inch a perfectly eye-watering platform for HD gamers.
The bad
Don’t sit too close to the PS50B550: it might not be bad for your eyes any more but you’ll probably notice detail fading away quicker than you’d like on a brand-new telly. You might also see you’ve bought a television with ‘subtle’ rose black detailing that makes it look like a design relic from a Tomorrow’s World show in 1982.
The bottom line
We’ve decided that we love plasma more than the vegetarian vampires from Twilight. This bleeding-edge bargain is cheap, smooth and doesn’t ruin your appetite between meals.

its just perfect waiting for the digital switch over for normal tv to improve but dvds and games on the console are just perfect on my 50 INCH PLASMA mmmmmmmmm very very very very very very good

I have been saving hard for 3 years for a 50" Plasma and am only weeks away from buying one. The Gadget Show has highly recommended the Samsung PS50B550. If anyone knows of a better product for the same money please let me know as 3 years of saving and going without holidays wasn't an easy thing. I just don't want to buy a so called LEMON! Ta. Daz.

conor mckeon, 800 quid is budget for a 50inch tv. Only a few years ago my 42inch plasma cost me 1500. Their big budget suggestion is over 2 grand. I think this tv looks amazing for the paltry price and Ill be getting one soon. doris

Just bought the new 2010 model of this (Samsung PS50C550) and found it brilliant, the old model is available for less than £600 in most stores now. New one is smaller than the old one in its overall size as the frame is thinner, very good picture and easy to set up. Would recommend to anyone. Maybe Gadge Suze should review this one now!!

This samsung sounds good but a good friend has shown me the panasonic 42"plasma an it looks great. Not sure what to get :==(
