Panasonic TX-P65VT20B 3D plasma TV
The basics
The TX-P65VT20B is a monster 65-inch full HD plasma TV with 3D capabilities via active shutter glasses technology. It comes with built-in Freeview HD and Freesat HD tuners, as well as an Ethernet port allowing you to connect to Panasonic’s VieraCast online service, as well as stream media files using DLNA tech.
The good
Being a plasma TV toting Panasonic’s always-impressive NeoPDP engine, the TX-P65VT20B produces a fantastic 2D image packed with excellent black level response and natural-looking colours. And the screen’s rapid 600Hz refresh rate means that 3D images suffer from less “crosstalk” (i.e. double ghosting around on screen objects) than you’d spot on its LCD 3D rivals – in fact, at the time of writing it might just offer the best 3D picture quality of any TV on the market. The set’s 2.1 speaker array also delivers sound that’s surprisingly beefy for a flat screen telly.
The bad
The price tag is high, which you’d expect for a company’s flagship 3D TV, but there are other issues to bear in mind aside from the cost: the picture isn’t as bright as that of its LCD rivals, and this means you’ll be wanting to watch in a dimly-lit room as often as possible, particularly when it comes to 3D content (the glasses darken the image further).
The bottom line
If you can afford it, and have the space to set it up, you’ll struggle to find a better screen for watching 3D. The excellent 2D picture and media functions simply round off a great package.

It work in a shop that has a verirty of 3D TVs and by far the panasonic out beats all the 3D TVs on the market at the moment. Even changing a 2D image to a 3D image, its picture is much sharper and more like a 3D image. It makes Cash in the Attic look epic. Includeing having the 600hz on the TV makes it more reponsive and smooth whilst gaming or watching sports. If i had enough money i would Totally buy this TV!!

Hi although the pioneer krp-500a isn't 3d which one has the best 2d image? - still the pioneer or the panasonic above?

There is not question that 3D TV with glasses will not take off. As did SACD & DVD-Audio. Who wants to sit at home with 3D glasses on to view films.. Dual screen 3D is the way forward and will close the door behind for the need for the silly 3D glasses.. 3D glasses is best viewed with projectors and not TV's screens.

I think that its wrong that you are sponsered by Panasonic and are giving a biased review that portrays Panasonic in a good light when personally instore me and my mates compared the Panasonic to Sony and noticed that the Sony offered more quality to the 3D imaging whilst Panasonic wasnt up there. It makes it unfair and is totally a biased opinion.

3456554, This is exactly what I thought (please read my review regarding the Sony 60LX903 3D TV). It is a SHAM and people have to realise that fact and not hoodwinked into buying an inferior product. Put it this way, when the "Gadget crew" are performing these tests all over the world who do you think is paying for that......? Not FIVE i can assure you.

Rather concerned to hear comments on sponsorship. Perhaps some comment from The Gadget Show team/management stating their position with regards would be appropriate here? Failing to properly address this concerns would surely confirm a somewhat biased position wouldn't it? I'm in the market for a new TV and am rubbish at doing my own research. I felt that this site would be a great place to get a genuine view - now not so sure!

well I do think that this 3D TV is the best on the market, I’ve been in the market for a new TV for about a year but been holding off, all though the 65 inch was a bit big for the living room and pricey to, I’ve gone for the 50 inch which is the same TV just 15 inches smaller at less than half the price, we have had it for 2 weeks and this is mind blowing what a epic picture the image gets better from HD programme in 2D and then switch display to 3D trust me the best image I’ve seen, and if you get time to watch a movie why not get your 3D blu ray Avatar or A Christmas Carol or any other, stick it in to the 3D blu ray player and watch as they were meant to be watched but at home on your soffer, by the way in 3D movie mode with the glasses is the best

ALL 3D T.V,s with glasses are rubbish and a waste of money ! With new glass-less 3D using streroscopic like the nintendo 3ds . Stop wasting your time&money on old technology and just wait a little longer for something decent or u will be like one of them people who investing in laser disc(attousands of £! instead of just waiting that little bit when dvd showed up ! I am still on anagloue and waiting for a decent t.v to be made that is glass-less 3D Not plasma (like on old radiator) with free-sat and hopefully lcd with rgb dimming as back light as the old sony x series is the best picture i have ever seen and now selling at about 5k after only being 3.5k on launch . Any body who says the pioneer kuro are the best are also deluded as they are not t.v,s and are panel monitors with no speakers and u have to add surround sound to evenb hear them ! so there it is people (might sound a little rant sorry if is does)

why are all these people moaning about 3d tvs with glasses? i do not own 1 yet but when i do, it is not for watching tv generally, the 3d function will only be used for gaming and films with lots of special effects! it is not something you want to be using all the time! plus all these people saying that dual layered screens are the way forward! well im sorry to tell you this guys but that tech is not going to be available for quite a few years yet! yes we have the 3ds and there are tvs out there, but it's crap! there is no clarity to the picture plus you have to be sitting directly infront of the screen and not move! it works with the 3ds yes but that is a 3 inch screen, i went to a tech show and watched advatar on a 50" dual layered screen for about and hour and was not very impressed, the biggest problem is the water effect and you only need to move a little for this to happen! so guys stop going on about how dual layer is the way forward because your not going to see a good one for at least years! so go buy a 2d and watch 3d at the cinema that is what you obviously want and stop boring us with rubbish about 3d tvs, it's old tech that has become good and affordable!

I really love that company nowadays that produces 3D images. It is also a energy savers than the old ones, so when your using it you only not help conserve earth but also saves money on electricity.

I myself have got the TX P50VT30B,after spending months of reading reviews, going to shops to compare picture quality and functions. The VT30 gives the best one can buy.Next to that was samsung's D8000 series. The only thing samsung had on panasonic was the super slim bezel.
