Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin
The basics
Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin are speakers fit for iPod owners. It has a digital amplifier, Digital Signal Processing, and switch mode power supply. B and W Zeppelin drive units include one 125 mm bass; two 90 mm midrange, and two 25 metal dome tweeters. It comes in polished stainless steel with black trim and black cloth grilles.
The good
This is B&W’s first iPod-compatible product and it's a real high flyer. It looks like something Batman might have under Wayne Manor to play his Bat tunes on (Bat Out Of Hell, perhaps?). Sonically it’s awesome, with a 100W of digital amplification built in, two speakers and a bass-blasting sub. The speakers deliver clear audio across the whole range without overdoing it on the bass. The iPod Shuffle aside you can dock any iPod, and the Zeppelin even interacts with them to a certain degree - when connected, you can scoot into the iPod’s on-screen menu and tweak settings specifically for the Zep.
The bad
Only a couple of negatives. The USB port is for software upgrades only, so there's no way to connect the Zeppelin to your computer for iPod syncing. Also it costs £400 – that’s pricey for any iPod dock.
The bottom line
B&W isn't full of hot air, arf! This is one of the most stylish and sonically adept iPod speaker docks we've ever laid eyes (and ears) on.

Please Please can you stop introducing adverts on everything you do! I love the Gadget Show but there now time that I just want to turn over the channel because PC World has to jump in at every opportunity or for every video we want to see online has a promotional video before it! I realise you have to obtain a revene source to keep up the interesting content of the show and website but please don't sell your soul to do it! Be a little restrictive on where and when you allow adverts to appear. Perhaps you could show a gadget that can turn off adverts if i press the 'red' button? Love the show but not the constant adverts! Have a great day and keep on gadging! R

Yes it is made for iPod, but a variety of other devices can play sound through Zeppelin and the bass level settings described in the Sound section are also applied to these devices. Both analogue and optical digital connectivity is supported by a common (AUX) socket on the back of Zeppelin. Examples of other sources are: - Other MP3 players, including early iPods without click wheel - CD players - portable or static - Portable radios with headphone or digital outputs. - Computer direct - Computer wirelessly using Apple Airport Express™

Customer care is dismissive and non-existent. Having received the item as a gift I found out there is a technical glitch that B+W knows about that makes the airplay incompatible with my (regular) router. So despite that B+W keeps selling the machine for an incredible price, without the back up help for customers. Don't waste your money!
