V-Moda Crossfade LP
The basics
The V-Moda Crossfade LP delivers up a pair of 50mm drivers in a nice and compact over-the-ear design. The angular cans have a smooth industrial design that comes neatly packaged in a stunning molded carry case. With an overall weight of 280g, these are quite heavy headphones for their compact size. Little touches, like the Kevlar coated cable and quarter-inch adapter add up to a nicely rounded package.
The good
Designed as much for visual impact as for audio quality, you won’t be surprised to find the build quality on offer here is amazing. The chrome finish of the hinges to the leather of the head strap all feels top-notch, making these cans a pleasure to wear indoors and out.
Shipping with two cables, both with 24k gold-plated 3.5mm jacks, one with an inline mic, you can choose between plugging into your stereo or smartphone with ease. It’s the small details that impress, the smartphone cable is shorter than the standard 69-inch cable for home use but both plug in at a 45-degree angle for optimum ease-of-use.
The bad
There is nothing seriously wrong with the Crossfade LP, so it’s more little niggles than faults. The chrome hinges look great but feel awkward when slipping the headphones on or taking them off. Then there is the fact the covers are built-in , so can’t be replaced, little things as we say but there still the same.
The bottom line
They sound great, look even better and if you’ve had enough of the same boring old-fashioned brands, then the V-Moda Crossfade LP have enough street smarts and appeal to pass for the real deal.

Bought a pair based on the Gadget Show review as had heart set on Bose Quiet Comfort 15's but was disappointed when I tried them so needed an alternative. V-Moda's rock, sound is excellent and at £150 I had none of the preconceptions induced by the £300 price of Bose. For £300 they should make toast! I know there is no noise cancelling but have not missed it to date. Have a lengthy train commute each day and even at low volume music is clearly audible over background noise. Good recommendation, thank you
