Ultimate Ears 300vi
The basics
Designed primarily for use with your iPod for the gym and pounding the streets when out running, these in-ear headphones come with an over-the-ear flexible cable so you won’t find them falling out mid-workout. Smartphone users can also make the most of them as you’ll find inline controls with a built-in mic for handling calls.
The good
Orange and Grey may not be the most stylish of combinations, but this sporty little number is a lightweight in-ear headset. Having the over-the-ear bar means the earbuds sit snug, so even when burning down the home straight they won’t fall off.
The main selling point is the audio quality, however. It proved sharp and meaty with plenty of bass, without sacrificing the high-end. Better suited to pounding rhythms than slow-movers, you’ll really feel the benefit in the gym. The package comes with a choice of six different bud sizes and an orange carry case.
The bad
Lightweight these headphones may be but we weren’t overly impressed with the materials used. The over-ear cable feels a little cheap and the weak cable fixing into the 3.5mm audio jack means you’ll need to take care how you store them.
The bottom line
The Ultimate Ears 300vi may have that sporty look users are after and the sound quality they offer is nice and bassy but we’re left feeling a little less than impressed with the overall build quality, fine for a short jog but not really up to the long haul.
