Sennheiser CX300 II Precision
The basics
The latest version of Sennheiser's wildly popular budget CX300 headphone, the Sennheiser CX300 II Precision is a noise-isolating earphone that has tightened-up the bass of its predecessor to produce a very attractive package. They don't dig as far into your ear canal as some other IEM earphones, making them a perfect choice if you don't want a lughole excavation every time you step out with your MP3 player.
The good
With beefy bass and a refined high-end, the Sennheiser CX300 II Precision earphones offer a fun sound that's a great partner to electronic and rock music. The CX300 series has been popular for years now, and it's not just because they're affordable – it's because they sound great too.
The design of these earphones is nigh-on perfect. They come in white, silver, black and pink, and – whatever finish you choose – they all look great. When inserted in your ear, the Sennheiser CX300 II Precisions hardly poke out at all. Discreet and good-looking, these buds are seriously tasty.
The rubber tips of the Sennheiser CX300 II Precision buds delve a little way into your ear canal, but nowhere near as far as some other earphones. This makes them more comfortable than many rivals. Sound isolation is still good, as long as you get the all-important seal in your ear.
The bad
Thanks to their non-invasive design, sound isolation with the Sennheiser CX300 II Precision buds isn't quite as strong as with some other IEM earphones. Being able to hear what's going on around you is often useful, but not if you're just trying to escape the rest of the world with your music.
Long-term CX300 series fans may have already become acquainted with its one big foible – they're not all that hardwearing. Made of plastic, the Sennheiser CX300 II Precisions will eventually fall apart unless you treat them with kid gloves.
The bottom line
The Sennheiser CX300 II Precision don't make much of a change to the now-classic CX300 blueprint, but you can't deny its winning formula – good looks, a fun sound and a fairly low price make these earphones winners.

Just got a pair of these based upon your top 5 recommendation. Great sound, and providing you insert them in your ear properly, chunky bass, and overall a great improvement on the standard ipod phones. The best bit is that I got them for £15.79 from Amazon marketplace, and at that price they must be the bargain of the century.

i bought these head phones today and they are a pleasure to use A very good balance between base and treble. The only bad thing about hem is that when the earphone cable connector this gets moved it makes a tapping noise through the ear piece besides that i would recommend these to anyone

I have a pair of these which I bought 3 or 4 months before the gadget show test. I have been realy happy with them, but even more when I saw thes test.I have tried loads of different in ear headphines and these are the best I have tried by some margin.

Beware that Sennheisers sold on Ebay are often fake clone copies, that's why some people here report them as sounding rubbish.

Cheers Gadget Show, Awesome headphones, quality is awesome and the bass is incredible =D. Bought them off ebay for a few £ under the shop selling price and well worth it. The carry pouch is a nice addition to the headphones and makes the price worth paying. Recommend to anyone looking for awesome music quality for a minimal price. Cheers Gadget Show

Great commuting headphones, especially for the tube; they are the only headphones Ive owned that can cancel out the noise enough for me to still hear my music. Only downside is they will only last you about a year with constant use but at this price who cares? Im on my second pair and will definitely get another pair when these pack up.

Username1 ive just read your post. Youve clearly got the wrong size buds in. The headphones come with 3 sizes. Get it wrong and they sound worse than bog standard ipod ones. Get them snug in your ears and the bass and sound quality are as good as shure or beyerdynamics but at a fraction of the price

To above, you can get them for £18 from play.com or amazon. I thought about getting some, but have read a lot of reviews say they lose quality and then give up completely after just a few months.

These sounded great when I first brought them and the different size buds you get is a great idea but sadly the sound faded in one of the earphones which after paying nearly £40 was a bit rubbish.

Great sounding upgrade for standard mp3 buds but are easily the most uncomfortable headphones i've ever owned. They are great if you don't move... but if you do move they come out easily. I use them on transport but for running or doing any activity other than walking then I switch back to the standard apple ones. If you can stretch to it just buy some grado sr60i's and be done with it!!!

I agree with comments that it is widely known that there are MANY fakes on ebay and AMAZON Marketplace all being sold as legit and new (bloody chinese).............dont risk it. Go to a recognised dealer and pay the money. Just think of it as piece of mind and you get a real warranty which is actualy worth something to boot ! Personally I recommend the Klipsch Image S4's anyway. They cost more but the returns are more than worth it. Why pay 200-300 for a good mp3 player then spoil it with nasty 20 quid headphones..........doh

These headphones are great. I'm really heavy on headphones, use them everyday and constantly on and off. The sound is great and they're really comfortable, definite bonus with IEMs. I bought some Shure SE102s few months back, not sure they're any better and yet nearly 2x price! The cable also went on those as it had with CX300 11. These are so hard to better at the price nad they stand up against many more expensive (£50-100 range) headphones

Got a pair from play.com very very disappointed with them. OK base is good but vocals sound to bright to harsh can't even listen to female vocals far to harsh. No I'm looking for a softer smooth warmer pair of headphones. Tried playing them loud all night, no different. Sorry but I'm into Hi-Fi big time and know what I'm talking about.

I'm very happy with these headphones as far as sound quality is concerned, but how is it that none of the reviews I've read mentions their terrible CABLE NOISE? You can hear the slightest brush, tap or even your own breath rattling inside your head! It totally ruins them for listening on the go, as the cables are always brushing against something when you are walking no matter how well you secure them. If I had known about this I would have avoided them and gone for other model/brand! I thought that a review should focus on all important aspects of a product, but it seems that either this is not considered an important issue; but I wonder what's the point of having such an awesome sound if you can't enjoy it properly?

I had a pair of these, never quite got on with them. Kept falling out, I guess I've got small ears. Swapped to a pair of MX470s, love em!
