@Martin: Prices were shown in the program (and above clip).. the prices are displayed when the Top 5 countdown is done.

Just rewatched GS Top 5, no details of prices on show. Tested these yesterday. Don't represent good value for money. Could almost justify them for my home kit but cable not quite long enough to sit away system. Don't think as portable set they stand out so much better than competition, particularly if quality of mp3 etc not of best quality. Certainly not at this price.

The price of these headphones is unreal. If you are going to review headphones they need to be within the majority of peoples price range. £400+ is way to much to be spending on headphones unless you have money to burn.

Agree completely, make people aware of prices. Searched for headphones on Gadget show site, then searched for price on Amazon.... £558.96. I'll have 2 pair!

Nice cans, but why didn't the TV piece have the prices with the ratings as normal?

Which piece of music by Radiohead was used in the product test?
Report as inappropriateitsacomment09 November 2009
@Jon Roe These arn't even the top of their range, then you get modded versions too. Top headphones can go for up to 10k (Senn Orpheus).

I watched the show and replayed the item on the web site, the prices of the headphones are clearly stated on screen at the start of their assement comments. However, what I would like to see is a listing of the prices and the scores for all the tests, so that I can see how the decision has been arrived at, and arrive at my own conclusion based upon the price as well as the score. This would enable the best value to be arrived at in addition to the best performant device. As air time is at a premium I'd be more than happy for this info to be posed on the web site, I can't believe there would huge numbers of people with my analytical requirements.

Nath, I've been looking for this myself! Found it from the video review - it's 15 Step by Radiohead. As recommended by the editor of What Hi-Fi as a perfect test.

the skullcandy skullcrushers are AWESOME for bass heavy music, but thats all they are good for because they have a built in subwoofer, and you dont want rumbling bass when your listening to mozart, but I have the skullcandy SK PRO they are awesome the sound quality is incredible and the bass is unprecedented, I highly reccomend those over the denon

oh dear, it appears everyone has forgotten how to read on this page... it says luxury... not affordable... this is if you have cash to burn and need a decent set of headphone then these are them....

WOW, you guys don't know the half of it if you think these are absurdly priced, a complete audiophile setup of high end source, amp, cans and cables should really start at £1000 and can go up to and in excess of £5000

I would like the Gadget show to showcase the range of Stax headphones and vacume tube energisers and give their opinions as to how good or bad they are ,as i am unable to locate anyone close to me to judge for myself the qualityto justify the price tag.

Your all complaing about the price being alot moe expensive than a lot of people can afford but thats why they call it luxury as it is something that is expensive but probably worth it
