The quickpod is a cool gadget, not really a must have though. It is simple to use, mount your camera or in my case a flip digital video camera and get elevated or self portrait style shots with ease. Tripod extra screws on the bottom of the pod to give you a quick tripod, however it is a bit fiddly and a bit rickety. neat feature is a tiny mirror below mounting bracket that helps you to frame the shots for self portraits. All in all it is a cool wee device. Alternative the old gorilla pods will do pretty much the same thing and everything else a gorilla pod is designed for, the only thing it does not have is the afore mentioned mirror (no great loss) I have both gadgets and if I had to choose,,, the gorilla pod gets it.
