JVC Everio GS-TD1
The basics
The JVC Everio GS-TD1 is the first consumer camcorder to shoot Full HD video in 3D, featuring two separate lenses and sensors to shoot two independent frames simultaneously. It's pricey, but it has a lot to offer.
The good
Sure, you'll still be able to shoot regular 2D and HD content on the JVC Everio GS-TD1, but JVC has thrown all its weight behind the 3D technology on this compact camcorder. To get the best 3D imagines, JVC has packed in pretty much two of everything – from the 3.32-megapixel CMOS sensors, to the dual lenses.
The design of the JVC Everio GS-TD1 means that it's capable of capturing two high-definition video streams at the same time, and the result is staggering. 3D images look impressively detailed, and there's even a 5x optical zoom mode on offer.
There's a generous 64GB of flash memory built into the JVC Everio GS-TD1, which provides around four hours of footage. This can be extended considerably when shooting in regular 3D mode, with even more storage space on offer via SDXC memory cards.
The bad
The JVC Everio GS-TD1 doesn't really have any major flaws. It records regular high-definition footage well, and is even better when it comes to Full HD 3D videos. The only downside is the price, which unfortunately puts the JVC Everio GS-TD1 out of reach of most regular consumers.
The bottom line
If you're in the market for 3D camcorder, the JVC Everio GS-TD1 should definitely top the list. Unfortunately, as well as being the best, it's also one of the most expensive, with a price tag well in excess of a thousand pounds.
