AEG-Electrolux T59840 Tumble Dryer
The basics
As the worlds first ‘A’ rated tumble dryer the T59840 breaks new ground in energy saving and according to AEG they’ve exceeded the required levels by a whopping 30 per cent.
It uses heat-pump technology to reuse as much energy as possible – just like a fridge working backwards – and comes with 7kg capacity, electronic sensors and five care settings.
The good
The T59840’s sensors make sure your clothes are not over dried – saving electricity and piles if stubborn creases to iron out - while the specific programmes dry even delicate fabrics like wool without shrinking.
We especially like the ‘freshen up’ that gives a new lease of life to a lightly worn shirt without the need for a full wash and dry, while the dryness selector leaves your clothes either ready for the cupboard or slightly damp for easier ironing.
Condenser dryers don’t need a venting hose so can be positioned anywhere in the house
The bad
It doesn’t matter how green a tumble dryer is, it’ll never be as eco-friendly or cost effective as a washing line, clothes airier and a breeze.
The bottom line
If you just can’t live without a tumble dryer the AEG-Electrolux T59840 ticks more boxes than most. With a large capacity, handy features for delicates and quick drying it’ll do the job with ease with the added bonus of using a fraction of the power or most.

I own the version of this branded by John lewis which is the same part from the lcd display some of the cycles run up to 150 mins but still it uses much less than the one before depending on how wet the clothes are when they go in it adjust the time a it detects the moisture but sometimes the thicker parts of the clothing collars and cuff are still a little damp I usually stick the clothes on the horse for the day and pop in on the refresh cycle 31 mins The tech behind the heat pump is the same as you fridge and the same that will be used to heat many homes in the next decade Well worth the money if you do alot of drying

I have has an T59840 for 2.5 years. Now has stopped working i.e. it steams up the room and the condenser doesn't seem to work. All filters are clean. The repairers have spent over 5 weeks trying to fix the problem to no avail. I guess I have wasted my money on paying for insurance!!!

Like the other reviewer, I have owned the T59840 for 2.5 years and it has stopped working. Same problem. Engineer suggests part would be extremely expensive (I am 6 months outside the warranty). I paid £600 for this machine from John Lewis. My advice is to buy assuming the equipment will only last as long as its warranty.
