The basics
At just 30cm high the Cobb oven can roast, bake, barbecue, fry and smoke. It weighs 3.8kg. Lighting the Cobb is easy via the special Cobble Stone bricks made from coconut shells coated in Barium and Sodium Nitrate, which burns super-hot, super-quickly.
The Cobb is tagged with The Cobb, cooking and oven. Select a tag (The Cobb, for example) to find everything on FiveFWD about the subject.

You can cook all your food on a Cobb. Not just a BBQ but a cooker. The food you can cook is endless. I have had one for 3 years and use ti camping, on the beach and a roast at christmas.

I am a BBQ enthusiast and own a Charcoal Webber, a Gas BBQ and a big Landmann American Smoker, as I have always been impressed with the Hairy Bikers Cobb cooking my Girlfriend bought one last year. Fantastic as we use it indoors on the dining table when we are having steaks. It is my Sister-in-Law's 60th Birthday this month and she and my brother own a Long Narrow Boat, I have bought one for her birthday as it will be safe to use and as space on a Narrow Boat is at a premium these Cobbs are ideal. Graham at Cobb is most helpful.

Had ours for about 2 years now. Nothing better than roast chicken when camping or on a picnic. 3lb bird 8 webber coals or heat beads 1hr 45min. It does great home made pizza. Only need 6 webber briqettes or heat beads takes about 10mins. Thin crispy base just dont go too mad on the toppings keep it light. Quesadilla's are great as well. We cook ours in a non stick pizza tray from £land. No need to buy expensive cobb accessories. Got our roasting rack from same. Does great casseroles using a pyrex dish. The secret to successful cobbing is to resist the urge to lift the lid all the time. Yeah it expensive to buy but its so versitile and bombproof.

Pal bought one and I got the last one in the shop. Tandoori Spatchcock Chicken 1st dish, fantastic. Used 8 BBQ Briquettes but allow at least 1 hour to get to correct cooking temperature. Ordered the griddle for steaks/burgers etc. Best thing as I have a very small balcony on my 4th floor flat and it just fits. PERFECT. Cleaning: Left tray and rack in hot soapy water overnight and easy clean in the morning.

I have one, flippin' marvelous. I wouldn't use it inside though, it doesn't get hot, but it does burn stuff so it emits nasty gasses so needs proper ventilation.

These are indeed great; I own one and they really are as good as you might thing. However, THEY SHOULD NOT BE USED INDOORS!!!! Burning charcoal emitts a lot of carbon monoxide, which is very easily absorbed into the blood stream, higly toxic, can lead to death, harm babies in-utero etc. The instructions do state this - though they could be more clear.

We have sadly just had to scrap one of the original Cobbs - we have used it for 8 years. Have rushed out to buy a new one immediately as I cant imagine coping camping without one.In the new one the principal is the same, but somewhat different construction to our oldie. i have done a full roast dinner for 7 on a Cobb, made pizzas and an authentic Tartiflette in the remote French Alps.

Clever design and very effective with little charcoal required. Ours is an early one and the case has gradually dissintegrated, plastic doesn't seem to be the best material for the job, although I see that later ones are steel. Vastly overpriced by about fifty pounds I'd say.

Won our classic VW campervan show for "cooking in a camper" last year on the cobb, cooked a full Sunday lunch, roast chicken, potatoes, carrots, turnip, parsnip and even Yorkshire puddings,(gravy in a seperate pan) Would not swap my cobb for the world,it's only limitation is your imagination. Nice mind ! AL.

We have had one since the Hairy Bikers TV show. We use it when away with the caravan. Much easier to clean than a traditional BBQ & much less messy to use. The cobblestone burns completely away and produces an eggcupful of ash, very easy to dispose of. Its a slow cooker, but on holiday, who's in a rush ?

Agree with most of the comments including the one which says don't use indoors. The website says you can but sadly 2 deaths occurred recently using a bbq in a tent - not a Cobb though. Videos on website are pretty awful and need re-doing. Expensive - yes, Long lasting - hopefully. Love sitting outside either my motorhome or house drinking a glass of wine, reading and watching it cook. Brilliant invention.

i agree with most of the comments ihave read relating to cooking with the Cobb,i have used it very successfully to cook a variety of roasts etc,BUT there is a DOWNSIDE which no-one seems to have mentioned and that is the cleaning after use, with the older model whic h had a plastic outer casing, cooking was the same, but cleaning was much easier and less messy.with the newer design which does NOT allow you to remove the holder of the firelighters, which also contains the burnt ash,you CANNOT use the juices thaqt collect in the "moat" because as soon as you tip the stainless s

the cobb is NOT EASY to clean after use (on latest model stainless steel outer casing) CAN'T for the life of me understand why anyone would want to fix something that WASN'T broken.the latest design is difficiult and messy to clean as all the ASH and meat juices etc,get mixed together so you CAN'T use them anymore, WHY CHANGE IT, otherwise the best bbq cooker i've used
