TBH JP, it's pretty much just the screen and mic. that's it. there's the PSP1000 (fat), PSP2000 (slim n lite) and the PSP3000 (slim, lite, nice screen and mic) and in Oct we'll see the PSP-GO! (even smaller, no UMD drive, on board memory). Functionality is down to what firmware update you have on there and that can be uploaded for free by Wi-Fi.
i've got a 2000 (S&L) and i've been tempted to trade up, specially now the GO is around the corner, but to be honest you're as well off gettin a second hand 2000 if you're not going to play it too often.
they're going on a huge software drive later this year about Oct when the GO is released and the software is compatable across the range of PSPs. there's loads of new titles coming out as well as classic PS1 titles available over PSN and other apps too, Sony are trying to emulate the Apps store that the Iphone has been so successful with.
it doesn't have the functionality of the Iphone, but it's definately going to be #1 for handheld gaming.
