I bought mine six months ago and I have to say, I haven't been disappointed. The black levels are superb, like a very deep hole on a dark night, in 1080p those black levels and the vibrant colours give great depth to the picture almost as if your looking through a window.
I can't comment on the Pioneer speakers that are sold separately, as with any flat screen TV, the speakers that come with them have to be just as flat to match the style but end up giving tinny sound quality, and technology at the moment means that to get decent bass you have to have a fair sized speaker. A top class goggle box like this deserves better audio.
That's why I decided to team this TV up with a Yamaha 7.1 surround amp receiver and a set of B&W 685 theatre speakers with 10" sub woofer, and in a small/medium sized room, enough bass to rearrange your internal organs, woohoo!
All in all, the best picture quality I've seen yet in Plasma or LCD if you don't mind the price tag, but you do get what you pay for.
