I, have an iphone and a pc and i agree the iPad would be better than a smart phone and an e-reader, but what I don't agree with is that they claim it's better than a pc. They dismissed notebooks for being cheap laptops but there isn't as powerful hardware in the iPad, and with a pathetic 32Gb max storage, i was expecting something more like a macbook Air with at least an SSD. Unless they beef up the specs, its never going to be better than a Pc and therefore i don't see why i need one as i am happy with the iPhone being my portable browser etc when i'm out and about.

At last! You can now maximise the video to full screen. I have been waiting for this very long and decided to stop watching the web tv version of the gadget show. Now it's here I have started to watch again. Thanks to the dev team.

For the other comments including Mike who say the Ipad is under spec'd. You fundamentally do not understand computer architecture to say this . A computer's speed is not measured in MHz but in Mega flops . Which is how many calculations per second it can handle. If the overhead of this pad is low compared to a PC its flop speed could possibly be greater than a PC's. This kind of processor vis-a-vis actual speed has always confused PC (compatible) users . Because a PC's architecture is based on the old fashioned non graphics of the 80's it always required a massive MHz speed to do anything useful. In fact only in the last few years has a PC come into it's own in a graphical sense. On the other hand a Mac has always outperformed a PC for the equivalent MHz processor power. The same is true of the Ipad . Please don't confuse your bits and bytes so to speak.

*sigh* still no proper assessment of a phone's relative ability to get and hold a 3g or voice network signal in a degraded area or when traveling across cell boundaries. Maybe it will be a gadget show special?

It is weird that people call the iPhone or iPad "ugly brick" since that "ugly brick" was the most sold smartphone in the 3rd year in a row. Apparently, the world is divided into Apple lovers and "let's be jealous about something very perfectly designed since I don't know how to use it or I cannot have it".

You seem to have completely missed the point of the N900 it's a phone aimed at hackers and geeks. With tools in it's application manager that every Linux user will be familiar with such as SSH, nmap and openvpn plus having Python and Perl on it makes this phone a very agreeable choice for system/network engineers and developers alike. Also the 3.5mm headphone jack doubles as a TV-out together with it's 32Gb on on-board ram and excellent video play back makes it a very nice portable media player, very nice indeed.
