Google's navigation software really is excellent and I suspect it will be largely responsible for pushing the likes of Tom Tom out of the mainstream Sat Nav market.
However it does have a huge and rather annoying flaw that was not mentioned in the show - it may be free to download, but it isn't free to use. It requires a permanent internet connection to work.
This kind of 'Google Earth' streaming is fine when your at home, but its just not practical on a mobile device. A situation that will only get worse as the mobile operators get more and more swamped.
Lets hope at some point Google take a leaf out of Nokia's book and allow users to download the full maps to their phone.
