You got it wrong with the Scalextric the art of model railways is the content of the layout the trains run on and the thought going into them to produce a scene where passenger, freight and scaletrix are combined to give an overall effect and the controll of many trains at one time. Where to watch a car going round and round well no contest

The scalextric should win in my books. They are so fun, and i have one setup to go around my attic! Digital, of course. Thanks also for the gadget show! Never miss an episode!

They got it utterly wrong, all my scalextric set did was rust and stop working, whereas my hornby railway is still running like a dream.

Hornby railways is better than scalextic because with hornby railways you can produce a life like scene and is fun to have where as scalextic is just cars going around and around. i had a scalextic once and the blades wear down to easy and they come off the track to easy.
