the samsung galaxy s2 should have been in this competiotion . the speed of the dual core.processor is unbelievable and camera / video quality dominates the market.

This is the first time I ever thought about writing a comment online, but I'm baffled that the gadget show has left out the phone that's one every major award in the industry? The galaxy s2 owns every phone in this category! Credit where credits due gadget show! for shame!

Why use the HTC Sensation XL??? Why not the HTC Sensation or XE version? Dual-core and better all round!

I completely agree with the previous comments, the best phone available right now and the most popular phone in the UK is the Galaxy S II and should have been included in place of the Galaxy Nexus. It's been the #1 phone in the UK for 8 months and is still #1 even after the iPhone 4S launch and has won numerous awards. I also agree the Sensation or XE version should have been included and not the XL which sucks, The Gadget show has sunk to an even new low here. Either somebody in there research department needs to go or theres foul play here, which wouldn't supprise me given how many Apple advertisements run during the breaks.

How can they have the Blackberry Touch on and get 'the worlds fastest texter' to use the touch screen as opposed to the one major selling point of Blackberry's the ruddy keyboard?!

Love the gadget show but seriously why was the samsung galaxy s2 not even mentioned? Getting a little miffed about the apple love fest. Using swype on the s2 absolutely trounces iphone, only the apps push the apple ahead gadget show techies watch, so please be unbiased

Agree with the comments about the SII. Also the keyboard is just an app. The arc came out best because it has the best keyboard app. Load swype or SlideIT on to the phones that used the standard Gingerbread Keyboards and things change dramitically.

The S2 is still a good phone but the Galaxy Nexus (which came out way later) is so much better after having had both. It's the same dual-core, but the 720p large screen is incredible (the physical menu/home etc buttons are now on the screen itself which is why it's not as large as you might think, they disappear when in fullscreen video). Hardware aside, the killer feature is it has Android 4, which looks and works better than Gingerbread/3.0 (which the S2 still has right now).

Come on gadgetshow , it is utterly ridiculas that you have left out the Galaxy SII even though in Jon's review above he say the the galaxy nexus is bettered by the Samsung Galaxy SII, Please add the Galaxy SII to the vote.

@James Mayling It's not the same dual core, It's the same CPU granted but one supports NEON the other does not, google if your unsure what this is. Also Galaxy Nexus uses a dated graphics processor, same as the one used in the old Galaxy S just clocked a little higher, nowhere near as fast as whats in the Galaxy S II. The screen is very nice indeed and it's the only real advantage the Nexus has but even that comes with a but, it uses a PenTile matrix and if your not sure what this means google it. There is no sdcard slow, an average camera and the much hyped ICS update amazingly is not as smooth as the Galaxy S II using Gingerbread + Touchwiz 4.0. Try a live wallpaper on the Galaxy Nexus and the phone will lag, there noticable stuttering when changing home screens and cycling through your apps. Now do the same on the Galaxy S II and it's perfectly smooth.

@James Mayling One more thing, even though Galaxy S II is a smoother experience even without ICS it's worth adding ICS will be available for the Galaxy S II in january, the beta versions will be leaked tonight. Galaxy S II users not afraid of flashing beta roms will be on ICS tomorrow, ICS + Touchwiz = WIN!

I have to agree with what I've seen written here. The Gadget Show is really biased towards the iphone and they don't seem to know how to be objective when comparing it to other devices. Its sad really because there are viewers who will actually base their purchases on the findings of the show. They trust you. And how could you not include the Galaxy S2? I have to echo the sentiments of the other writers. Afraid it would come out ahead of the Apple and disappoint your sponsor? Yes the Nexus won on the day, but what if two phones had beaten the Apple? This destroys your credibility for me.

The gadget show do appear to be pro iphone, as the presenters seem to be always using an iphone in their challenges, but on the odd occasion you will see other manufacturers handsets in use. However they dont really help themselves, when reviewing a new phone as it is always compared to the iphone, when really the iphone is not the bench mark anymore. It does seem quite obvious that the best phone at the moment is the S2, and for a show based on finding and reviewing the best tech around to have over looked the S2 is strange.Especially when nearly every on line review places the S2 at the top of the tree, and the iphone not even in second spot. By the way i dont use an S2 myself, but agree its the best out there at the moment, i have the xperia arc and find it to be a very good handset. It would be nice to know what phones the presenters use, you never know they may all use something other than the iphone!

I can't believe it, for once the Iphone was beaten on the Gadget show, and some actually real world benchmark tests were used, I mean screen and video quality, as well as the all important online experience. I like most people cannot understand why the S2 was not on the show. I have had several phones over the last year, including an Iphone 4, and can say that the S2 is better in nearly all respects. I have had it since its launch in March, and for a techy like myself, I have yet to see anything out there that would want me to change it.All i'm waiting for is the new update to Android. There does seem to be an Apple, or should that be Iphone bias on the show. Yes the Iphone 4 and 4s are great phones, but thats largely because they are simple to use. One aspect that seems to never seems to come into your tests is the price of the product. To purchase an Iphone 4 or 4s, or to get it on contract is more expensive than any of the other phones. Should this not be taken into consideration, as after all, we are now living in somewhat hard times?

Its funny that the only people who moan are the people who don't have an iPhone, or have only used one briefly to expose its short-commings.

those above... not realised the show is sponsored by apple yet? of course they plug apple items more than anything else.. always have done hence their loss of credibility... a shame really as i really did enjoy watching it... but hey if apple doesnt interest me at all i find when the show starts.. the other channels have more appetising and unbiased shows on to view

I also watched your ios v android head to head and was totally gobsmacked as to why the sgs2 wasn't involved. The first test android fan had to play with the iphone yet the iphone fan got to keep his favoured device sorry but that didn't seem fair to me. Your apple favouratizm is really starting to bug me I'm sorry to say, the iphone was always going to be the novice choice as its idiot proof the capability of an android device and its palithera of ui customizations can seem daunting to a newbie, saying that even my 60 year old mother got used to android within 2 weeks and considering the nexus won I bet the sgs2 would have taken the gold knocking the idiotphone down to bronze shame your sponsor wouldn't like that. I have used Pretty much every mobile os available and used to theme the s60v5 platform had an iphone for 6 months and was so dam glad to be rid of its useless os. You are loosing my intrest fast gadget show please be non-bias when reviewing tech as some people do purchase on your reviews if you need to rethink your funding I seriously do suggest you do so.

I agree with the comments above. A Samsung Galaxy S2 should've been included. The novice smart phone user should've been given a HTC Sensation XE rather than an XL or something smaller. The whopping size of the XL surely must've been off putting for her. I was disappointed that none of the presenters mentioned HTC Sense or Touchwizz. The novice was convinced that the iphone was so much better because of its ease of use. The Sense 3.5 on that XL would've been intuitive for her if they'd shown her how she could make her phone personal to her. The team talk at the end left me frustrated. If the iphone 4s had won that head to head with the galaxy nexus they would've said the iPhone is still the phone to beat. It got beaten & they say Hooray everyone has a choice as all smart phones even that terrible black berry are all as good. The gadget show has really annoyed me lately. Another one was the 3D tv feature with the animal man. They compared a better plasma Panasonic plasma in a well lit room to a Samsung LED. John Bentley is the only tech journalist I've seen to say a Samsung LED is better than a Panasonic plasma at displaying 3D. Even Samsung's own plasma 3D tvs are better than their LED ones. Gadget show get the correct gadgets for your face offs. It isn't hard!
