hey hey
yes its effectively just a wii clone (but better) yes its as accurate as the wii motion+ (but better) yes its games are wii clones (but better) and yes sony are very late to the game truth be told.
however
even from viewing the demo videos you can clearly see that the move™ games are far superior than the wii and are much more adult compared to the very family orientated gaming of the wii. i watched the tech demo from last year and it totally blew me away. I'm happy that sony has finally moved into the motion control gaming arena and that they will have a product that ooozes ps3 quality graphics and gameplay from the outset. its looking very sexy and things can only get better.
the backwards compatibility that sony have already mentioned is superb with titles like eyepet getting a move upgrade and socom clearly fully integrated with the move™ the possibilities just apear to be endless. i just hope sony don't do their usual routine of great hardware . . . . . . .
great to see that jason loved the demos and that the "topspin" effect is as real as every other journalist who plays with the move™ has testified.
it looks great and will make an excellent addition to the ps3. my kids are gonna love it and i will too as the wii is just to "family" for me and the quality of gameplay and graphics is much more important to me than just waving a wand about with dodgy looking characters. my son is 7 and we love playing the ps3 together and he is shockingly adult when it comes to gaming. sony is giving its gamers high end motion games with wii simplicity.
its a shame that nintendo has never really "grown up" and will always just been fun for the kids. yeah they really cracked it with the wii this time and hit their target market bang on the pixel but sony has just crowbarred their way then kicked the door down with this stunning move™ controller. the games will be the final determining factor but nintendo have something to fear.
@ jason . . . . when your finished with the one you guys will get sent to use and abuse for the show. . . . can i "borrow it" pretty please with sugar on top.
"I'm happy that sony has finally moved into the motion control gaming arena"
aren't you forgetting about sixaxis? ok it's not as multi functional as a Wii but it's more than the 360 has
Looking forward to thisa lot. I love the idea of motion control which is why I got the Wii on launch day, only for the excitement to fade after only a year, when I realised that it wasn't that responsive. Seeing the demos and reading about PS Move it seems the technolgy as finally got there. I'm looking forward to Tiger Woods 11, that will utilise Move, lets see you can actually control the power and the type of shot better than you could ever do in the Wii versiopns. I did love the bowling on Wii Sports so I hope they fix the juitters theyv'e got on the forthcoming Brunswick Pro Bowling.
harvey, im not forgetting the sixaxis and personally i love the way that the sixaxis adds those little extra touches to the gameplay experience and gives some games that much more immersive feel . . . . . i STILL play rub a dub ! but lets not kid ourselves. the sixaxis ISNT motion control. its "tilt" control and (again personally) i feel that it works best a additional control function, like shaking to get back up after a knock down; and not as a fully fledged directional control replacement.. .. subcontroller aside ofc . . . ..
check out endgadget show 007 for another tech based demo showing the incredible possibilities for the move™ as i perviously stated its gonna be all about the games. PLEASE PLEASE dont let the tech go to waste.
To write off the wii on the basis of this is very short sighted and shows real signs of fanboyism. Sure, Sony have produced a very nice peripheral, but, sadly that's all its ever going to be, even if it beats the wii controller in all departments. The key strength of the wii control is not the accuracy, or its ability to entertain its target market, its the fact that almost every game on the system uses the controls exclusively. Socom may have Move controls added, but the game HAS to be fully playable without it or sales will be drastically low and no major developer is going to make a big budget title to use the technology to its fullest for this reason. We will be stuck with games with Move options added as an after thought and dedicated PSN mini games, which, to all extents isn't a bad thing but its not going to change the face of gaming as Sony want you to believe.
Yes project Natal be good, but lets have a look at the pros and cons
Pros
no need for ontroller
totally integrated
Cons
No controller ( disadvantage, as sometimes you need a distinct object that the cameras can recognise, as proved in EyePet)
More Expensive
same as PS3, not all games will have it, so it will have to have a controller option too, so it may become an afterthought
you cannot use natal for driving games as you can with move and wii
Conclusion
The cons of Natal outweigh the benifits
Been following this whole thing since the first rumours and then of course the first official word/confirmation from Sony.
I will have this for my ps3 on release day without question although I have some reservations but for under £100 and I believe its going to be around £60 (Brilliant !!) and I just cant resist the temptation to have this as soon as possible.
Its not going to kill or even harm the Wii in my views, the Wii has too big of an established user base already and it will be be popular for many years to come regardless of competition I suspect.
Move and Natal for that matter could "level" the playing field so to speak next generation of games consoles and I don't believe Move or Natal will change that much in regards to console sales and overall popularity although I do realise this assumption could easily be ultimately wrong in the end but this is my suspicion at the moment.
I had high hopes for the Wii controller technology for shooters but have been generally underwhelmed in this regard so my biggest hope is that Move can finally give me an original, precise and Immersive way to play shooters, anything beyond that is simply a welcomed bonus and I wouldn't mind at all buying Move if it was just a dedicated shooter peripheral.
I cant wait to try this out and hope that its got at least one launch title that I like and I hope we don't suffer any delays until next year or anything like that.
Where are the gadget show forums ?
:)
Personally I would be worried if my 7 year old was playing adult games.
Yes the Wii is a bit childish, but Im glad Nintendo haven't sold out their principles.
For me the PS3 is tons better than the Wii, graphics, gameplay and selection of games. Sony's cool 'Mario Kart Wii' that's due to come out soon is amazing too, much better than Mario Kart!
MOVE LOOKS GREAT AS DOES NATAL,BUT THE REAL QUESTION IS WHAT HAVE NINTENTDO BEING WORKING ON THESE LAST YEARS,WITH THE PROFITS FROM THE WII THE R+D DEPARTMENT SHOULD HAVE FREE REIGN TO GO WILD!
I love this show, and I just finished watching a record breaking rc car jump at another site... It's to bad I can't watch this episode (or any other online for that matter) because I am located in Canada.
"the video you are trying to watch cannot be viewed from your current country or location" bah...
I guess Canada is not worthy, pitty...
@ Brody moffatt
I did not realise we could see into the future, how did you achieve this, with a crystal ball perhaps ?
Clearly a fanboy hehe
The fact is Natal and Move are both vastly different, anyone who is not blinded by fanboyism surely sees this.
As I mentioned in my first post with the Wii, the 360, PS3 and Wii all have such a huge following and install base I doubt anything like this will harm the opposing console.
Fanboys will buy into there respective brands, those like me with all the consoles will buy into both natal and move and enjoy both of these systems (hopefully) while the fanboys argue about what one is best.
Move and Natal are both heading for success in my views, fanboyism simply limits your enjoyment to a single platform, when will fanboys realise that there only limiting there own potential enjoyment ? (rhetorical question by the way)
This is very much like the wii but yet I am still looking forward to it. It is only out for PS3 and some people say the wii is for children. It looks very accurate and fun but then project natal is coming out for the XBOX 360 and it will have a MASSIVE advantage over it and I have a feeling move won't be a big success.
Christ guys, just because you own an xbox doesn't mean you have to hate on everything else. Natal imo has shown no promise whatsoever after showing the same game for the past 9 months. Move on the other hand has shown top games (Socom 4) 9 months before the perephiral is released.
Yer seriously guys, the PS3 is better than the Xbox. I own both and I find that the graphics r better on the PS3, so r the games availible, and the internet is FREE and hardly ever lags. Move and Project Natal are both very good but Move has way more promise.
WOW, LOOKS AMAZING, WHAT IS THE RELEAS DATE FOR THIS? I AM LOVING THE PUSH TO MORE INTUATIVE GAMEPLAY.
WHAT GAME IS BEING TRIALLED HERE, LOOKS LIKE THE TWO BEING PLAYED TOGETHER WORK WELL.
Do any of you actually find it amazing.
Because I don't a tiny bit. I like it and would get it but, I don't thinks it's unique in anyway.... It's just normal.
P.S. But that's just my opinion. Please tell me what you think I would like to know.
Just like to point out that Nintendo do have adult games... how about Red Steel 1+2... or the Metroid Prime series to name just a few.. Yeah I'm sure that the kiddie games out way it but um when 'kiddie games are like Zelda Twilight Princess..Okami not forgeting that the wii was able to play Gamecube games (although admitadly not re-designed for the wii stick) How about the excellent game Beyond Good and Evil (come on Nintendo if ubisoft still exists get it remade). Yep I am a fan but I also loved the Playstation and The PC.
Heard a rumour that Nintedo was going to produce a graphics card that could be attached to the wii (or wii 2) abit like the n64 addon. I would like them to bring out a 3d TV with intragrated Wii. ok I can dream can't I!!!!
This is a video for move not natal. They are both completely different in many ways! Sony won't be going down because of natal or "WAVE" as it's being called now. Move has massive advantages compared to natal. Nothing that I have seen on natal has made me go wow! But many things have with move has blown me away! That's just my opinion and I'm not a fan boy.
Move has button use for instance which is a huge advantage in gaming.... I'm not sure about Natal's idea of making a gun shape with your hands and going pew, pew, pew, haha...
Remember guys the PS3 id going 3D too, Microsoft have no plans for this yet. Imagine the possibilities :)
The Playstation Move is very good but it is kind of a copy of the Wii.I'm not saying that the Wii is better because I have a Playstation my self. The only diffirence between the Playstation Move and the Wii is that the Playstation Move has better games and it's more advanced.
I'm pretty impressed by this... I'd heard about it months ago and thought it was a silly idea and just trying to fir in with the Wii. but this has changed my view. The fact it can be used with proper games is great; and like Jason says, feels natural.
The table tennis is a shameless rip-off of wii sports resort which also accurately applied top spin with the wii-motion plus. NOTHING new here!
plus the glowing sticks look stupid as can be.
Does anyone know if this will mean that there will finally by a ps3 eyetoy game, I used to love those on my ps2 but there still aren't any available on the ps3 despite the camera being out for well over a year. Looks good can't wait for that fighting game
