I would hope that jackets would be waterproof, because they would be worthless to have, if you can not wear it in the rain!

Have Gelert gone bust or something? I can't find the Mens Westcott for sale anywhere and the Gelert website is full of dead links and pics. Hmm, not looking good.

I can't find the Gelert Westcott either BUT, I just bought the Gelert Rainpod at Amazon and, if you read the reviews, you likely will too. And, how about the price ???? A mere 13 quid. Check out the reviews tho and you'll buy this pacamac with a punch. Oh and did I mention FREE shipping. You just can't beat it ! Here's the link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gelert-BTH157-Mens-Rainpod-Jacket/dp/B001QXDM5K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=sports&qid=1285191924&sr=8-1

There is a reason that experts in their field spend months or years deliberating the standards to which products are tested, for example BSI. It is to give a measure against which to compare similar products under reproducible conditions so that product performance can be measured accurately, and compared informatively. This type of ill conceived, poorly researched and badly executed pseudo science only delivers one conclusion - that the gadget show does not know what it is doing.

lol at the comment above. If you don't think that aiming water at a waterproof product to test that it's waterproof is a relevant test then jeez m8, please suggest a more plausible alternative, coz for the life of me I can't think of one.

Hi Mikeg, there are numerous recognised test methods in publication that test the waterproofness of a fabric and also of a garment, and none of them involve a fire hose. The pressure and volume of water hitting the wearers was far in excess of any rain conditions that you would experience in real life, the angle at which this vast volume of water was hitting the wearers was also unrealistic (rain tends not to fall along or up). A far better test is to use a domestic shower, the drop rate and size is much more reflective of real life conditions. I hope this is a more plausible alternative?
