Amazon must be rubbing their hands and clicking their heels after that report. Both Sony and Amazon's latest offerings are just re-worked versions of their old e-reader products. Where was the Nook? (Barns & Noble's e-reader) or the iRex Iliad (Which I own). Both are phenomenal e-readers: The iRex has an 8-inch e-paper *touch*-screen and the Nook has a *colour* touch-screen area for book selection. Both have dozens more features. In my humble opinion saying that the Kindle is the e-reader of 2010 is just nonsense. Also misleading was the comment that the manufacturers' proprietary software was required for loading books onto the devices - the excellent, multi-platform and *free* software; 'Calibre' - interfaces with every e-reader on earth (http://calibre-ebook.com/) and supports any e-book format. The first hit on Google with a 'free e-reader software' search would have shown you (or your research team) this. The Nook was released in October 2009 so *may* have missed your filming schedule (But pre-release reports should have stopped any "Kindle is the one for 2010" comments and it would point out your reports are not as 'on the ball' as they ought to be). The iRex Iliad has been with us since 2006! (2007 for the 2nd generation). While I hope you enjoyed your time on the beach, I feel the report was not well researched at all and does not reflect at all the e-book readers we'll be using in 2010. I'll be taking your future reports on equipment I'm not as familiar with with a large pinch of salt. Disappointed.

watching jons review on these e readers made me think about how difficult it is to view a colour screen in daylight, how great would it be if mobile phones could be viewed in sunlight like e readers can.. a manufacter should make a touch screen mobile phone ,the size of a lg pop or nokia 5530 for instance with a high resolution black and white screen that can be seen in sunlight ..this would be an ideal phone for just making phone calls and for texting ..and to be honest not everyone needs a camera on their mobile and think of the benefits of users in very sunny country's like africa etc

@ Jonk. You've named a couple of desirable readers there, but I think it's unfair to say Jon's round up was remiss to have overlooked them: the nook is squarely aimed at the US with no big names importing it to the UK and iRex simply price themselves out of the park IMHO (£450 for an 800S?!). Good call on the Calibre software though :)
