The camcorder review showed how handy it can be to read a manual. The Panasonic has a feature that it automatically turns of when you point it down, so that if you forget to turn it of, you do not end up with hours of footage of your feet and the ground around them.
All Otis had to do is turn this feature off in the setup menu and he would have been able to shoot his loop without any issues.
(I just can't help to add the acronym helpdesk people have for this: RTFM)
