If there were no ads, then there would be no on demand service. I don't see why anyone would like to host large amounts of video content and provide you with free video content for nothing, this is the same as TV. it may be free to view but that's for a reason - You are viewing ads which earn back money to compensate for the free viewing of video content for the users.
