I loved this segment. As a fashion technologists myself (www.iheartswitch.com) I want to point out the difficulty of this challenge even for the best designer with no time limit. In my view, fashion technology is more challenging than most any other technology out there. Your dealing with a constantly moving body, pre-conceived notions about style, social agendas and statements, and batteries are bulky and usually not washable. All of this means that electronic connections are constantly moving on something slightly unpredictable, not to mention the need for washable processors and such. Yikes!
Knowing this, Suzi and Jason did an amazing job. Better than some established designers out there.
I see that many people are asking why did Suzi win? I think this is because she was thinking about fashion and how we move. The shoes go with something we truly enjoy, music. And, they fit into a fashionable item that we already understand and know how to use. As I always say, never deny the history and powers of fashion.
Fun Fact: Back in the 1960's Diana Dew made lighted clothing for disco dancing and sold the clothing in high end boutiques in NYC.
