World of Warcraft could get possible Apple iPhone and iPad release

World of Warcraft is one of the most popular games ever. The Apple iPhone is arguably THE most popular smartphone. So the two seem like a match made in heaven – and you could soon be playing WoW on your iPhone.

Gaming and apps on the Apple iPhone have always been a big attraction, with games proving better looking and more playable than we’d ever previously imagined possible for a mobile phone. It looks like things are about to get even better, however, with the developers of World of Warcraft planning on a mobile version.

Greg Street – otherwise known as Ghostcrawler, and one of the key designers of World of Warcraft – has pointed out that the WoW developers are “huge fans” of Apple iPhone and Apple iPad hardware.

Greg went on to point out “if we could make the right game changes to make that work, it’s something we’d be interested in”. Sounds promising.

Just don’t get too excited yet, as it looks like an idea for the longer term, with Street stating “it’s not something you’re going to see in the next week or two, but it’s the kind of thing we’re always looking at”.

Would you like to play World of Warcraft on your iPhone? Or do you think it’s a game that’s better left alone for the big screen? Leave a comment and let us know.

"The Apple iPhone is arguably THE most popular smartphone" - Possibly among the Gadget show crew, but figures suggest otherwise. Nokia previously and android now are the most popular smartphones. Even though I own an Ipad 2, your journalism is embarrassingly biased towards apple products. Your recent review of the Ipad2, Xoom, and playbook was judged by someone from Sky News, a corporation that developed a brilliant application specifically for the ipad 2 only, and advertise it heavily on their channels. IMO the ipad 2 is some distance the best tab out there but you did it an injustice. I cringed with embarrassment when it was declared the winner even though the xoom won in more categories, and you then went on to give the xoom and the playbook - which came last practically all categories the same G rating.

I can see this working well on the iPad, but not so much on the iPhone. I think everything would be way too small.

I have to agree with Tay, too many reviewers are biased with the Apple products, there are way better phones and tablets than theirs.

The way i look at it is you just cant compare apple products to anything, not because there good or anything but because its a different type of market. Look at the 'Mp3' players now days, there so many types out there. that can do so much. where as as far as I'm concerned you can have an 'Mp3' player or an iPod (or any other apple product). apple are in a league of their own. and its not always a good thing.

Couldn't agree more Tay, everytime and Apple product gets into the mix with other gadgets Apple always comes out on top. Typical..

I think everyone has strayed away from topic here. I also agree that apple are over rated. However the people that made WOW like apple and would like to release the game for it in the app store. All good and well. The only reason I dont play WOW is because I dont want to be stuck in my house addicted to the game. If you could play it while you was travelling, the game would get a lot more subscribers. I am an android fan however, so it would be frustrating if the game is just an Apple exclusive!
