Windows 7 arrives!
Windows 7 has finally arrived; RIP Windows Vista!
It’s finally here! Yes Windows 7, Microsoft’s latest and greatest version of the operating system, has come to banish the harsh reality of Vista from our memories forever. Read on to find out how much it’ll cost you…
Boasting to be faster, cleaner, more user-friendly than ever, the official version of Windows 7 has finally gone on sale. There are a couple of different packages that you can buy, starting with the Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade which costs £69.99 and going up to the Windows 7 Ultimate edition which has an rrp of £229.99. Alternatively you could snaffle up a Family pack, which will upgrade three different machines from XP or Vista in your abode.
But what’s so good about Windows 7? Well, firstly it’s much faster to run than Windows Vista, and doesn’t eat up as much RAM, which means you’ll start seeing it on netbooks as well as super-sized laptops. Elsewhere the user interface has had a Gok Wan-esque makeover with improved graphics and much more “Mac” style to it. Oh and it also comes with touch support , so if you’ve got a touch-enabled PC you can get all hands-on with it.
As if you needed any more motivation to get Windows Vista off your PC, well, this is it.

Nice, guy but I already know about Windows 7, I've had the Beta and RC. I've already got Windows 7 Ultimate. (Had it since last month) It's brilliant and really should boost Microsoft's profile. If you've got Vista you'll know how unreliable and slow it was. Windows 7 is the complete opposite and its a must own!

Took Microsoft a long time to try to catch up with the Mac OSX, and now Snow Leopard is out, it's been left behind - again! Oh yes, it still gets viruses. I too will stick with my Macs. PS have you seen the new Mac Magic Mouse? No buttons, but total control. Revolutionary Apple, evolutionary Microsoft. Buy a Mac, you'll never look back.

I HATE windows 7. All the drivers that came on my vista machine don't work with 7, even in compatibility mode, and when I tried to install the graphics driver for my laptop, I got the Blue Screen Of Death, (BSOD), and I couldn't boot into 7 to save my Docs. VISTA FTW (with SP2)

Why pay for an o.p. which dont deliver! The 'original p.c.windows' didn't deliver.(Windows wasn't original, the idea came from Microsoft.)"| 'X P' Did not. 'VISTA' ha, no one was fooled. Why believe

I use windows 7 ultimate which i got free from the microsoft tech net show in holland , works perfectly and is as quick as my mac os , on a apple macbook windows 7 works better than my old vista ultimate , the only thing i do miss is dreamscene from vista , but thats not a good enough reason to stay vista , get windows 7 and you wont regret it

If you bought vista after June and applied for the "Free Upgrade" the p&p is over £13 +tax =£15. I am sure this means a teckie will be `round to install ps do they need all that cardboard around a 5" disc?

Windows 7 is fine other than the lack of the windows media player toolbar. They took it out even in the original beta version though so I doubt they were ever going to put it in. Back to itunes for me.

or you just pay postage if you have bought a dell in the last few months as an upgrade

Again Bill Gates is making a fortune on this if he wants people to buy it he should make it a reasonable price for most of us a RRP of £99 is enough to make him a tidy profit.. I do not intend to upgrade til i get a new laptop.......

Hmm i wonder if all these Microsoft hating people who constantly sing the praises of Apple realise that Microsoft actually owns 30% of it! As for my view on the new OS; well my PC is getting old and needs to be replaced sometime (not looking forward to the cost). I would like it to come with Windows 7; it seems to me to have the low RAM and functionality of XP but also has the user friendliness and aesthetic side of Vista. If the computer came with Vista i would rather not buy it. I to be quite honest despise vista and i would rather face another 4 years with XP!!

Hmm the debate about Apple vs Microsoft. Mac's are nice but there's one thing people don't realise! Microsoft actually own 30% of Apple so either way your paying Mr Gates. As for me y machine is getting quite old so i will probably get a new one soon
