Web-savvy Binatone iHomePhone outed
Sadly, it won't actually make you a cup of tea too
So you thought only your fancy new smartphone could check your mails and Facebook status and the like?
Not any more, thanks to Binatone’s new Android-powered iHomePhone. Complete with all the familiar app-downloading, web-browsing goodness you expect from a more mobile handset, the Wi-Fi-powered iHomePhone is in fact a DECT digital cordless phone aimed at your trusty landline connection.
The full colour 2.8in touchscreen may be just 320×240 pixels in resolution, but that’s still plenty enough for browsing photos or videos at that size, while the docking station has built-in speakers for giving audio some added goodness.
As you’d imagine, more traditional homephone features such as handsfree speakerphone mode, call waiting caller ID and digital answering machine capabilities are also present and correct.
You’ll need to provide the broadband connection and router yourself to take advantage of the iHomePhone’s web capabilities, and we’re not told just which version of Android is doing duty inside, but otherwise this multi-talented home phone can be yours “in time for Christmas” for just a penny under £100.
