Introducing the Sony Ericsson Naite and C901 – part of the mobile phone company’s new GreenHeart handsets, which are as hellbent on saving the Earth as they are providing you with a top-notch mobile phone.
Although GreenHeart sounds like the name of a rubbish eco-superhero, the Naite and C901 are part of a new set of green handsets in Sony Ericsson’s range that will look to save the planet by using reduced packaging, recycled plastics, waterborne paints, and an electronic in-phone manual instead of a paper booklet.
Spec-wise the Sony Ericsson Naite Greenheart has a 2.2-inch display, a microSD card slot and 3G built into its eco-friendly shell. There’s also a two-megapixel camera in there for taking snaps of trees and lush green fields. The Naite even has an Ecomate application that will tell you how big your carbon footprint is. But it’s the C901 that’s got our interest piqued: it’s got a powerful five-megapixel snapper with Xenon flash and the new MH300 Greenheart headset that’s made almost entirely out of recyclable plastic.
Okay, the Sony Ericsson Naite and C901 Greenhearts aren’t going to save the planet on their own, but if it means we’re one step closer to avoiding the unthinkable – another Al Gore documentary – then we’re all for them.
