WD unveils 1TB media streaming powerhouse
More storage than you can shake a stick at...
Western Digital has launched a web-connected media-streaming box with a full 1TB of on-board storage for the home entertainment fan with a serious appetite for content.
The WD TV Live Hub offers full HD playback either from the web or a wide range of file types, including the likes of MP4 and MOV.
DLNA connectivity is another box ticked, giving you the flexibility to stream media to or from other compatible devices around the home, while the Live Hub also gives access to a range of online widgets, among them the usual suspects such as Facebook and Flickr.
In terms of connectivity, WD’s black box comes packing a latest-spec HDMI 1.4 output for full HD goodness, as well as component and composite video connections and a pair of USB ports.
WD has only provided the US-only $199 price tag at this point, though it does assure us that the Live Hub is launching worldwide. The only downside for the rest of us is that Netflix, Blockbuster and Pandora access will be scratched off the features list by the time it arrives on UK shores.

Brian, The reasons why SO MANY manufactures are making these streaming boxes (compared to having a Media Centre PC) are: * ease of set-up * ease of use * small footprint * very low power consumption * ease of installing firmware updates for additional features, bug fixes, A/V codecs, etc * not subject to the BSOD :)
