Volkswagen unveils new electric bike
Get on your Bike.e
Pedalling yourself into a sweat is one of the least dignifying things about taking your bike on the morning commute. So this new electric bike from car maker Volkswagen looks like it could save you energy as well as save the environment.
It’s called the Bike.e. For now it remains a concept, meaning you can’t swing your leg across the saddle and get on your merry way with it just yet. It doesn’t have normal pedals: you just power it up and get moving.
However, it’s not just a snazzy looking future gizmo. It’s got some very neat skills too. You can fold it up and stash it in the space in your boot reserved for your spare tire. And what’s more, you can charge it up using your car’s DC electricity supply, as well as giving it juice from the mains when you’re at home.
The Volkswagen Bike.e won’t be landing any time soon, but VW has said it’s looking into plans for a future release.

Not sure this would be legal over here. I think it would be limited to a very low speed - similar to a mobility scooter or it would have to have pedals and be 'power assisted', and we already have the GoCycle - a British bike, doing that very well thank you!
