Vodafone outs solar-powered mobile Vodafone 247 – Sunny side up

Amidst all the fuss over its new budget Android phone, the 845 yesterday, Vodafone also slipped out a rather interesting solar-powered blower called the 247. It might not sport top-end specs, but this ultra-budget blower will get you by in trips abroad – the sunnier the destination the better.

There’s a colour screen, voice and SMS support and an FM radio but that’s about it. But the big selling point of the Vodafone 247 is, of course, is the solar panel – so you can charge it up on the go.

There’s no price or availability date, but the network says the Vodafone 247 is part of its ultra low cost handset (ULCH) range, so it may only be sold in developing countries. Fingers crossed it makes the trip to the UK too.
