Virgin Media gets Premier League in HD
Like your footie? Like it in HD? Virgin Media has some good news for you...
Watch out Sky, Virgin Media has just announced that it’s ready to drop a brand new Hi-Def channel on its subscribers that will show crystal clear, HD Premier League games from August 15!
Virgin Media has tied up a deal with ESPN to show its package of Premier League games from the start of the season. Because the deal includes SPN’s dedicated HD football challenge that means punters with the Virgin Media XL package will get to witness Wayne Rooney’s gurning visage in all its HD glory.
They’re not just showing duff games either. The first game on ESPN’s HD channel will be Everton against Arsenal on August 15 at 17.30. If you’re not a subscriber of the Virgin Media XL package then you can get it for an extra £10 a month. While if you have Sky Sports on Virgin, it’ll just be an extra £8.
ESPN got the rights to show Premier League games after Setanta Sports missed payments to the FA and consequently went belly up.
